I have a 2016 1500 Limited with Air Ride, the truck has been basically fault free for the entire time I’ve owned it. The air ride did act up before but that was due to a blown fuse for the air ride/trailer brake due to a faulty trailer brake module. Yesterday I went to take it out to go run some errands and the dash displayed the following message:
6a7a93a0305290d06ab2a95ed5a2db3d.jpg

It makes no sense why it would need to cool down as it was sitting overnight so there is no reason for it to “overheat”. The truck is stuck in normal ride height which is fine by me as that is where I normally keep it unless there is a lot of snow. I have disabled my aero mode so it doesn’t lower itself while on the highway and stay that way for normal street driving. I tried to raise the truck to Off-Road 1 while I was on the phone with one of the dealers it, it went up in which case I thought it was just a glitch and it went away. This morning is did the same thing.

I reached out to 3-5 dealers in my area in Long Island and the and the earliest appointments about a month out. Is the truck driveable in its current state? I asked the dealers and they said bring it in during the appointment and we can let you know. How does that help me when the next appointment is about a month away?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Might be worth disconnecting the battery overnight and trying again in the morning.

Air leak and the compressor is getting warm building air pressure back up after sitting all night?

I don’t think that is the issue as I keep it at normal height and it remains there, so there is no need to build the pressure.

I tried that last night and the issue is still there this morning.

Hopefully the compressor has a replaceable temp sensor that failed otherwise it sounds like a faulty compressor. If it's maintaining ride height then driving it should be no issue, but loading it up it obviously wouldn't self level.

When it was functioning properly if I sit in my tailgate or simply leaned on the Ramboxes it would self level a bit. I am unable to find the sensitivity threshold for the air suspension self leveling. I assume if I take a couple of people in the truck it would automatically adjust somewhat.

if the compressor has an error such as overheat or overload it is disabled. Mine will adjust with just me on the tailgate and even leaving the door open will make it adjust a bit. Without a leak it will just stay where it's at until the problem is corrected.

Thank you for that bit on knowledge.

Hi Deepc6,
We're sorry to hear about your recent concern. Because dealerships are independently owned and operated, we are unable to assist in getting you an earlier appointment, however, we would be happy to connect you with a Case Specialist to work with you and your dealer throughout this process. We are available via private message.

then all hell will go wrong if he does that .All the on board computers have to go into relearn mode. just take the fuse out on the air pump for the truck, so its not running all night to keep up with a leak he has some where in the line.

He's not leaking. He has already disconnected the battery for a night and the height didn't change and the error message remained. The problem is likely a sensor or compressor.

This is why I stayed away from the air ride, I read were the dealer only replaces the air bag one time if it pops and your on the hook for it almost 900 bucks to be replaced by dealer with parts and labor NO THANKS

I wonder if there is a condensation problem due to the recent weather. We went from the nineties to low forties. Probably wasn't much different in LI.

I thought the system FCA uses was valved to "fail up" and not drop to the bump stops like an old grand marquis or land rover? So if the system fails the air springs hold their air, you just can't change ride height.

That's why it's still driveable and staying at normal ride height.

Which is why I still think it's an air leak lol
If these leak they drop and the compressor lifts the truck back up. It will rest on the bump stops if the compressor cannot keep up with a leak.
