So tonight the wife and I jump into my truck to go out to dinner and after starting my truck the airbag light comes on, on the dash and doesn't turn off. Check in owners manual and it says service airbag immediately. Anybody have this happen to their truck before? (Truck is a 12' 5.7l quad cab)

I think I remember reading that sometimes a cable gets disconnected under the seat and causes the light to stay on...not sure on that but here's a bump for ya...

I tightened all the connectors under seats and that took care of my problem. Not sure which one was lose but it worked. If it comes back on I will have my dealer check it out.

Xtreme545,
I made the thread a few months back for the connectors under the seat... Generally what happens is when something slides under your seat or gets caught on the harness and you move the seat, your airbag light will come on. My Ram did the same thing and threw a code for drivers side seat airbag... After the dealer replaced it, it still did it. For the fix, either buy some trailer connectors (or any other durable multi-pin connector) and you can make new connections over that cheap harness Ram made for under the seat, OR you can get some zip ties and adjust the harness. Without adjusting it and taking a minute with it, the light WILL come on again...

Which seat? Mine came on yesterday and my son was back there moving things around and wonder if he kicked something that could've messed with the connector

Possible fix if you're airbag warning light comes on

First of all don't ignore this warning light. This can be caused by many reasons some of which are a definite safety hazard. My light came on this past friday and I immediately called a local RAM dealer to schedule a service call monday morning. I dropped the truck off at 8am and they called me 2 hours later to say they would have the truck ready shortly.
This is how the malfunction and fix were described on my ticket:
"Airbag seat connector was found open in the connector for the side thorax airbag inflator. replaced jumper harness from connector under seat to airbag inflator".
Luckily this was found and fixed quickly but I was nervous driving the truck with that light on. I kept expecting the airbags to deploy.

My air bag light comes on at first startup once in a while. Drive a couple of miles shut off and on restart it is gone. Dealer would say can not duplicate problem.

Hi Red-R/T,
If you're able to leave your truck at the dealership for diagnosis on a cold start, that might help, since it happens of first start up.

I've had this same issue occasionally as well. No way to find out the trigger of it. I've searched on here and found mentions of loose airbag fuse as well as loose connectors under the seats. Seems to be pretty irratic and happen to a lot of people. Looks like someone on this thread even said something about a Durango being affected so this sounds like it is a widespread dodge issue. Would be nice if there was a definitive answer

Unfortunately, my truck will have this happen one day and then nothing for a few days/weeks/or even months. And then when it does happen, it will go away on its own within a minute or two. Never had it stay on for any lehgth of time.

I've checked all fuses and connectors under the seat and no dice, they were all secure/tight. Not fun at all

If the problem isn't under the seat it could be associated with the clock spring in the steering column. This has been an issue with Jeep Wranglers for some time. I recently received a letter from FCA about them extending the warranty on the clock spring for my RAM so that makes me think it may be the same part. Hopefully this is not the issue but it is something to consider.

If the airbag light is or was recently on, there will be trouble codes in the system. Check for codes and it will point you in the right direction.

Understandable :) If you do decide to make that happen, let me know--always happy to follow up!
