Anyone have an idea what I may be doing wrong? 2024 Ram 5500. Using AlfaOBD for Windows, a usb OBDLink EX, and a proper Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep bypass cable using the star connector. I can’t get it to connect. Keeps giving me the spiel about having the vehicle in “run” and to check wiring, etc. I was able to program keys to this particular vehicle, using the key programmer for my business, so the connections are good. But when I went to use AlfaOBD (first time using Alfa) to change some settings, I couldn’t connect. Any help would be appreciated!

The OBDLink EX is usually used for Forscan for Fords.

"OBDLink EX can access 100% of Ford ECUs and get access to more functions than the official Ford dealer scan tool. You read that right: FORScan has capabilities that are locked out in the proprietary software used at Ford dealerships"

Should work just fine as standard code reader on all vehicles, but I doubt it will use correct protocol for Chrysler to change BCM and such using bidirectional comms. I use the OBDLink MX+ with zero problems.

I may be wrong, but that's what their website says.

You can try to change the port assignments in windows to change the comm port on the USB port being used. Or possibly see if the driver needs updating in device manager. What version Windows you using?

Straight from AlfaOBD website, the EX "should" work, but I don't know how often he updates THIS page.

I use the OBDLink SX with my '21 Warlock.

I had problems getting the OBDLink EX to function and returned it but I chocked that up to user error on my part. I was able to connect but was unable to make any changes.
I was new to AlfaOBD then.
