Yesterday I tried putting in remote start with the factory hood latch and alpha obd. This morning my truck won’t start. I noticed something weird last night when one of my headlights wasn’t working. I figured it was just a blown headlight. My key is stuck in the ignition and won’t come out.

I didn’t touch any other settings in alpha OBD. Just the remote start set up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The truck is a 2019 ram 1500 classic tradesman crew cab 4x4 with 5.7L

Upload your bcm data to Google drive and link it in the alphaobd thread and in this thread.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

Alright so call me a dumba$$. Last night I disconnected the harness from the BCM to check for pin 11. I guess when I put it back on it did not set correctly. I disconnected and reconnected the harness and truck started back up. It has a trailer brake light and service electronic brake system message. im going to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and see if that resets those guys.

So disconnecting battery for a few minutes hoping this would fix my issue. I get a " service trailer brake trailer brake system" and a "service electronic braking system". I moved the truck forward and backwards luckily still have brakes but wondering if there's a fix for it.

Here’s a video of my start up. I checked my log and might have found two things that might have been switched off. If anyone knows should I turn these on to see if that fixes the issue. I don’t want to turn it on with out someone input and run into another problem.

Go into the bcm, click the check engine icon and clear any codes. Then start the truck back up and see if they come back

So I cleared the codes and let the truck sleep for a bit. Started it again and I still get the trailer brake and electric brake messages on my dash. No check engine lights and the alpha OBD doesn’t see it. Remote start still doesn’t work I’m guessing it’s a bad hood latch.

When you try the remote start does the horn and/or lights atleast flash? Does it say anything on the cluster? Since you fixed the bcm connector have you tried both ohm settings for hood adjar. You most likely will have to give it a couple of key cycles and a quick drive.

Yes, it honks the horn and the parking lights flash. The cluster says “remote start cancelled hood open”.

OK. It could just need to be driven or its on the wrong ohm setting. Also you may have to verify that the pin is seated correctly

Yeah verifying the pin is what caused the other mess. It’s there purple cable with black tracer in pin #11. Do you think driving it will reset the other messages on the dash?

With the hood latch you installed, did it come with a harness? It would be 2 wires a black ground and a purple with black chaser?

So my truck already had the harness installed. It was tapped to the radiator support. It has a black and purple with black chaser. All I bought was the hood latch from mymoparparts.com and I got the key fob buttons for my factory remote off of amazon.

OK. So try driving for 10-15 minutes with a key cycle or 2. If the hood adjar doesn't go away try a different ohm setting and go for a drive.

What did you activate in alfaobd for the remote start? It seems like you have everything just need to figure out the hood adjar.

Before changing the ohm setting if you can unhook the harness and if you can rig something up to ground the purple wire out that will help verify if the latch is good or not.

You might need to confirm that the purple/black wire does in fact go all the way from the hood latch to the BCM. Maybe there’s a break in between

Agree, you need to check the wire runs all the way back to the BCM under the dash. When I installed remote start with mine, the wire went from the harness to the box under the hood, but not from that connector to the BCM under the dash.

@Rgomez1787 Did you ever figure your issue out? Saw your message in the other thread as well and since I have a 19 Classic as well and was considering adding Remote Start, it's making me nervous lol

Hey man my Ram came with the harness that goes to the latch. The harness that goes from the fuse box to the BCM was missing which is why It would say hood open. I just got the connectors in today to populate pin #11. I made a harness to tie into the harness that comes from the latch. Fingers crossed and hopefully it works.
