have a buddy with a 5th gen, he is going to 35” tires and needs to change the speedo.
Can anyone tell me if there is a security bypass harness and can you use Alpha on the 5th gen?

@leeroy300 It might be helpful to follow this thread for updates, CincyCudy68 is working on the bypass

https://www.ramforum.com/threads/alfaobd-in-5th-gen.136053/
@leeroy300 I have installed the bypass harness in the 2019 and have changed a couple settings, waiting to see if they “take” as sometimes it can take a while. The good news is that Alfa took the settings and said procedure complete and didn’t throw any errors, also it was able to read the bcm and create a log file. Keep an eye on that other thread, I’ll post there.

Is there any news on whether the bypass works on the ‘19 2500/3500? If it does where do we plug into the CAN bus?

Great picture, thanks. I will see if I can get to them and plug in the bypass cable from my ‘18 3500.

Here is what my ‘19 3500 looks like. Both buss connectors are green and both appear to be keyed to fit the white connector. The green connector on my harness doesn’t fit into either buss.776539B1-B11F-4478-AE1A-4EAA13AE5A3D.jpeg

It kinda looks like we may need two white connectors now. That is assuming the picture really is both CAN busses.

I went to my local dealership earlier this week and took that same picture of a 2019 HD truck for @DeereGuy.... FCA changed the connectors again so the one from your 2018 will not work now.

DeereGuy I believe has the correct connectors for it now ... Just have to be careful and not mix them up since they are physically the same between the CAN-C and CAN-IHS on the 19 hd

So does this mean I have to buy a new cable or can the green connector be changed to a white one?

You will need to contact DeereGuy to see how he wants to handle that since he builds those harnesses.

I filed the key off the green connector and plugged everything in. AlphaOBD works in my ‘19 as it did in my ‘18. I have changed the tire size to 2791 MM for my new tires and reset the ABS. The new size is there and the faults cleared after the ABS procedure. Now I need to figure out the exact size in MM to use in order to have an accurate speedometer. I will go ask in the 4th gen thread if anyone knows what MM circumference to use for 295/65R20 tires.

Easiest way to do it is measure the tire height on the truck then use to get the measurement in mm. You can just use your tire size in the calculator but it will still be off because the actual size is always smaller than what's listed

I measured one of the rear tires with the truck weight on it. The actual height is 34”. I did the math and came up with 2713 mm for the tire circumference. I changed the size in AlphaOBD to 2713 from 2791. At 60MPH the speedometer is right on.

New guy here, what does the bypass harness do and what can you change with AlphaOBD? Can you adjust when the cooling fan turns on?
