Went to a well known, respected local shop and a guy told me tue type rs dont fit under the seat in the ram. Suggests the w1 or the w3s. Anybody else experience this.

depends on your box.. if it has a fg base and the top is made correctly they can.

the type r is actually shallower by .055" if the box is made 100% wood then you are SOL.

i have had both (not in my ram though) i had type r when they first came out. great speaker and can take lots of power. i replaced them with 12w3v2 (believe it or not i had these subs for over 10 years and they play just like they did when i purchased them). i was running 2 of them with 450 watt rms amp.

I also had a 12w0 before also. you give it the right airspace and the right power they also sound great for the price. i had a cheap 150 watt pioneer amp and nobody ever believe me.

I'm a big fan of the JL w3 cause they sound so clean but if you want loud and can fit them the type r will be louder for sure.

Type rs fit I had them in my truck. You have to get picky to find the right box for em. I'd go w3, that's what I have now

GAltima, what year is your truck? The guys at the shop say the alpines are two big. They also say that the box they have, would have to be fiberglassed to fit the w3. Am I better off buying a box myself, or taking their word. I was able to hear both type r and w3. I was happy with how both sounded. Im just not sure if they are telling me the right things. On the other hand, this is the best shop IMO in my area. They have strong credibility

I have a 2010 crew cab. There are 1 1/2" spacers under the rear seats to raise them up enough to fit this taller box. NET Audio has a mold so they can make the boxes in house without needing your truck. It is fiberglass with a MDF top. Very knowledgeable and top notch box building. Here's the link to my audio build.

Man that is a clean looking box..I wanted to put the foxbox in my truck since they are local and they usually sound good but personally i think it looks goofy in the ram..I also had problems with the ports needing to be reglued on both boxes i had..

Hey man i'm looking at getting that box for my '09. Did you lift the seat at all with yours? and where did you get those things that protect the subs??

your local shop may not have to many ram installs under their belt, OR they are pushing their products (which is fine) and that means custom made sub boxes. Truth is, type R's are in many Rams, and those subs will drop into fox boxes or net audio boxes with ease.
Im sure your shop does great work.....many simply do their own thing.

This box came with 1.5" spacers for under the seats. The grills that are on the subs are made by Alpine for their subs and i believe i ordered them from Crutchfield because everywhere else was sold out. These grills screw down and hold the sub in place and then a trim ring snaps on to hide all the screws. They look real slick!!!!

I have two 10" type r's in my 2012 crew cab. I used the fox box myself. I think it sounds great, and hits plenty hard. The NetAudio boxes are great quality, but cost a good bit more. I still am very pleased with my setup.
