So, I've read everything on Matt's upgrade and several other threads, but since I have the Alpine system it seems are a little fuzzy. So I'm hoping GrayGoose steps in and clarifies my need for help.

What's the difference: 77KICK42 & 77KICK41

Can I get: 77KICK28AB and later add one of the above?

I tried to buy just the Kicker dash speakers from Crutchfield after selecting that i did have the Alpine system and they had in red "not recommended".

I know the sub requires some special harness that hasn't been made yet, not sure what purpose it serves...can you clarify this harness requirement versus just putting it in?

Can you verify what I need above out of all the part numbers Kicker/Mopar provides for a Alpine 2015 Ram system?

MANY THANKS!!!!!!

The 77KICK42 is for premium systems like yours, has two 6x9's and three 3.5".
The 77KICK41 is the coax 6x9 for base audio systems.
The 77KICK28AB is the 6x9 doors and dash tweeters, base systems.
You can do the KSC3.5 in dash, just one pair as some have done with success.

The rear sub is an easy swap, bigger sub, more power. Its the front 4.1 amp that the harness is not completed yet. But you have the front Alpine amp, which is similar.

If I did the kick 42 option, what would I need to complete the doors? Since it says only front or is there an option for all four doors as well?

You can do that, it has the front doors and dash covered.
Two 6x9 and three tweets.
The 41 for rear doors :)

So the KS35 will work in the base audio packages too? Or is it just better overall to get the 77KICK28AB?

After Reading a lot to this it is still not clear to me which specification this alpine system has.
obviously only 2 ohm speakers which I have not seen before.
So I´m still curious if its really possible to attach 4 ohm to the alpine amp / system.

for the speaker set up in my 2011 RAM 1500 Quad Cab I have found following speaker positions

1 x center
2 x dash
2 x front door
2 x back door
2 x headliner back
1 x subwoofer
10 in total

any speakers hidden anywhere else?? :roflsquared:

I would try not to touch the sub and go for the following combination:

1 x center
2 x dash
2 x front door
=> Mopar Kicker Audio System Upgrade Package - 77KICK42
Includes 2 x Speaker 6 X 9 inch 2 Way Woofers and 3 x 3.5 Inch Woofers

2 x back door
=> Mopar Front Door Speaker Upgrade - 77KICK41
Includes 2 x Speaker 6 X 9 inch 2 Way Woofers

2 x headliner back
=> Kicker 41KST254 1" Silk Dome Tweeter ( not sure on those but I guess the fit into above Kicker combo best than other manufacturer)

As connection adapter I found #12071039 Metra 71-039C Speaker Wiring Adapters from crutchfield.

As it is lightyears ago that I did this myself could someone experienced please comment on that? :):):)

I intend to do it myself as most local dealers want to replace and sell also a new and different headunit but I like the original vintage look.

Thanks for your help!
Mike

if you hook up a 4 ohm driver where a 2 ohm driver used to be, the amplifier is going to put out half the power @ 4ohms. So, the system may not be as loud. That is an oversimplification, but should be sufficient for now.

Does anyone have experience with the JBL 3.5" speakers? They are listed as 2.3 ohms which I would think would better match the factory systems power draw/ouput etc. I am a mechanical engineer not EE so not my realm or expertise but I have previously dabbled in car audio. I would have to buy 2 sets to swap out all 3 speakers. I have the Alpine system and it sounds fine to me but I may not know what I am missing. The door speakers are also of interest to me as I love midrange, not so much bass. I prefer tight bass over loose.

I bet they will be light years ahead of the stock Alpine ones.

I'm surprised they are that bad, are the Alpine ones a paper cone as well? What are most people doing with that extra center speaker? I don't see any single speakers for sale on ebay lol.

On mine, the center speaker grille says Alpine on it. Sound is pretty good but not mind blowing.

Doesn't the Alpine system come with the sub under the passenger rear seat as well? That would be a dead giveaway as well...

It did in my 2015. Not sure if there was a factory sub available stock on the non-Alpine systems.

I will have the GX302 in my dash shortly and older GTO 6.5s in my doors, Im expecting them to be on the bright side as all JBL coxial's I've ever used are bright but they were very clean sounding even the lower lines.

I know Crutchfield is not the best source for high end audio but they show those JBL 6 3/4" speakers as not fitting the Ram front doors. Usually there is an adapter bracket to adapt 6.5's to a 6x9 opening. Perhaps the 6 3/4" speakers are a tad too large in diameter?

Does the sub just unmount via screws and a gasket or is it all molded together like most OEM subs?
