So a few months back I installed the DJM 2" coils and 4" hanger and shackle kit with a set of Nitro Drop 2's. I figured I would start there and I can always go lower if I want to. Well now I want to go lower lol. It's a big improvement over stock but it needs another couple inches. It also kinda ticks me off when the Chevy guys are lower than us Dodge guys with nothing more than a set of shackles.

Anywho... I know I can get drop spindles for the front for another 2" but what is my next step for the rear? If I had done more research I would have just gone with a flip kit from the start but to be honest I was scared of the c-notch. Can anyone here point me in the right direction?

I'm far from experienced in the matter but if you could find a shop to cut off your spring perches and weld em on the bottom so your springs would be below the axle rusty would gain you 2-3". Unless thats what the flip kit does

The flip kit does that. It moves the axle to above the springs. It is supposed to give you 5-6" of drop but you have to notch the frame. Problem for me is the flip kit is meant to be used with stock spring hangers and shackles for that 6" drop. I went and changed those on mine for a 4" drop instead. Now I want to go lower and don't know how to properly do it.

Couple things you can look at that I know folks have done--other than the flip kit.

--You can remove the helper leaf spring and get about an inch more drop.
--You can install lowering blocks.
Doing a combo of both will get you that other 2 inches you need.

Some folks have not liked the ride after removing the helper springs and others say theres not much difference. I've thought about doing it myself for another inch back there after my 2/4 drop. Just haven't yet, plus I have a move coming up and see myself loading up the bed with stuff.

Good luck.

Well I did a belteck 2x4 drop with spindles on my truck. I also removed the helper spring like already said. Removing the spring made no difference in ride quality, its was already crappy. I too didn, t want to do a c notch at the time. But I recentlly purchased another sb 2wd with a DJM 4x6 drop, and this system is way better than the shackle and hanger crap I put on. With the shackle and hangers you lose all the rear wheel travel, meaning the axel hits my custom made bump stops all the time. Very harsh ride, but like I said it wasn,t great before, being a short bed. Heres a pic of the recent purchase front and rear suspention installed by the PO. THis is what I should have done to start with, cause those drop spindles were a lot of money here in Canada. Now don,t get me wrong here, I love the way the 2x4 drop handles the curves now, like it,s on rails.

Just an update if anyone comes across this in the future.....

My main concern was that the flip kit uses the stock leaf spring hangers and I pretty much ruined my stock hangers taking them off. Well I did some searching and found out that rock auto sells them for about $30. So when I decide to go 4/6 I will just get drop spindles for the front, the flip kit for the rear, and the stock style hangers from rock auto.

Thanks for all the replies!
