The trouble comes as the truck warms up in this Oklahoma weather, it gets worse and worse. It only comes from hitting bumps. When I hit a bump it acts like it chokes it, even though i know it's fuel injected. There have been a few bumps which have killed the truck altogether. A couple of times, I've hit a bump and it doesn't kill it, but it causes it to act like a catalytic, where I can floor the gas and go no where, but the engine keeps running. Throwing it in neutral, killing it, and restarting it fixes it, and back on the road. The choke is instant, like it sucked air for 1/2 a second, then runs fine. If I lived in a city which repaired their roads, I would have no trouble, it's just bumps and potholes.

The only codes are the catalytic converter, but the muffler shop drove it around the building, couldn't get it to "choke", and said it couldn't be the converter because it wouldn't roar like a hemi should, like it roars.

Could the converter be only intermittent?

V-8 with two plugs per cylinder for a total of 16.

My guess is that it sounds like you may have a loose electrical connection at the fuel pump or at the throttle body.

Are you getting a check engine light?

Only the one catalytic

I'm only getting the one catalytic converter faulty which comes only after hitting a bump and the engine loss. I was told the fuel pump takes like 10 seconds to get to the engine and that somehow wouldn't be the issue.

How would I know if it were the throttle body?

I've tried moving the wires on top of the fuel pump to no effect. As far as shifting the wires on the throttle body, I have not done. Killing power to the throttle body would be an instant power loss, right? That would make it a good candidate.

If the fuel pump stopped working it would be felt instantly as you would lose fuel pressure. I'm not saying that is what the problem is, I just wouldn't rule it out yet.

I'm sorry. I laughed when I read the bold part (how small did you think the cylinder bores were?), not to mention it is 16 plugs, so by that logic it would be a V16. On a serious note, if you don't know even that basic bit about the engine you might not want to tackle the troubleshooting.

All that being said, even a clogged cat shouldn't cause it to drop off completely going over bumps. How old are the plugs, are the coils getting good contact? I know you said the only codes were for the catalyst (you have 2); what are the exact code numbers? Are your battery terminals tight/good battery?
