I'm sorry to introduce another thread re: fan clutch. After some searching I haven't found a specific answer to my current issue
I recently replaced my fan clutch with an aftermarket unit. Immediately I noticed that it was intermittently engaging all of the time. I hear it engage when the truck is first started and off and on as the truck is warming up.
I don't recall hearing the OEM clutch engage like that. Typically the clutch would engage while towing with temps climbing over 210 degrees. The engaging fan would reduce temp to normal range and all was well.
The new one seems to engage too often and too randomly. There is an electronic component since the clutch connects to the wiring harness. Is there something that might be faulty that is telling the fan to engage or should I just suspect a faulty clutch?
I also just noticed that this thread posted in the wrong section. Should be 4th gen RAM. I thought I had it right but maybe an admin could move it?
