Me too,I've never been a fan of aftermarket diff covers as they don't address fluid control with-in the diff, and it's starting to look like they aren't the way to go now.

Have you found examples of aftermarket covers causing issues ?

Just my personal opinion from looking at rear-ends for 50 years, lol. The manufactures incooperate some sort of channel to guide the oil up and over the ring gear and onto the pinion bearings, none of the commonly available covers address that issue.Way back in the 50's the manufacture's started addressing the issue of getting fluid onto the pinion bearings. The foaming issue that Gale is seeing was something I hadn't thought about, but it makes a lot of sense when you're shearing the fluid on sharp corners.

I have to say, just from what the testing has shown so far, I've pretty much crossed an aftermarket diff cover off my list of upgrades to do. Unless they find one that actually moves the fluid up and over the pinion like the stock one does.

Given Gale's reputation I don't think that will be the case. But if it is, as long as it solves the issues he's brought up, I'll still consider it as having been worth watching.

Costs me nothing to watch videos and gain some knowledge. I'm game.

I am not drinking the Banks Kool-Aid even if he does offer a cover of their own when all said and done, but I have to give the guy credit for bringing to light some things many of us were pig ignorant about in relation to diff covers.

Seems it is a wash to go to a diff cover with extra capacity but a flat back design if it causes aeration of the fluid.

So far it seems that a simple copy of the OEM cover in Aluminum with fins would be the best.
