I've decided to go with a class V. Only a few bucks more than a class IV. I'll never tow that much but having a receiver that can handle 1500lb tongue vs 1000lb is nice especially when the tongue on my trailer is around 800lbs to 900lbs. It's nice to have extra room.

That's sort of a waste on a 1500. 800-900lbs puts you in WDH territory so the even the factory Class IV is good for 1200 lbs(WDH). There is still a safety factor on top of the actual rating.
A Class V is a 2.5" receiver, yeah you can use an adapter sleeve but that rattles more and some sleeves are not for use with a WDH.
If having a Class V hitch makes you happy go for it but there's no capacity or safety reason to on a 1500. Most people with 2500/3500 don't even put on enough load to warrant having a Class V over a Class IV

I put a 2 inch class V receiver on my 1500. class V is way more than you'll ever need on a 1500 but price was similar to class IV so why not. curt and draw tite make 2 inch class V receivers that fit 1500s.

This is exactly why I'm going to use a class V. And yes I use a WD hitch. I have a 10k Equalizer. And the one I'm looking at is the Draw Tite.

Actually the Draw Tite class V from etrailer is cheaper than most other class IV receivers.

I went with the CURT 14374 Class 4 reciever

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0027ID0RI

No complaints. Rated for 1,000 lb tongue weight, and 12K lb with a WDH. I also got a Tekonsha brake controller with the adapter so it was a plug-in affair.

I was under the impression the dealership offered receiver that bolts to the rear bumper frame is a class 3?
