I've been keeping my eye on used prices of these trucks and they are absolutely ridiculous. KBB is showing a trade-in range of $43,022 - $49,671 as of today, July 15 for my 2016 2500 Mega Cab Laramie with 80k miles. Just for giggles, I went to Car Shop (previously Car Sense here in Pittsburgh) yesterday and had them give me a cash offer and they offered $40,000. I know for sure they didn't input the options correctly so I do believe I should be able to get around $45k elsewhere. In a normal market I can't imagine this truck should be worth more than say $30k.

I paid this truck off earlier this year and have the title for it and another vehicle to drive until the market adjusts in a year or 2. As much as I absolutely love this truck it is hard not to pass up say $45k cash in hand when I paid $52k 5 years ago. What say you?

No reason to own a depreciating asset not needed. Sell it and buy Amazon stock.

Right. Do you still like it and / or need it? If yes, then go to --> would I like the new Gen V truck better, after reading the pros and cons about it. I've seen a lot of member say the ride is even better than Gen IV (at least in the half ton), the 8 speed tranny is great (I have a 6 speed because...heavy duty) but difficult to service.

I still need mine, though I don't use it as much as I used to, I still can't do certain things without it. So I keep mine because I have it customized just the way I like it. I don't want to go through that again - a lot of work as one gets older. During COVID quarantine, customizing helped keep me sane. Now we're out and about.

My dealership is losing their mind trying to buy MY 19 DT. Paid off, customized a lil. Head Sales guy called again yesterday begging me to come in and he get me set up in a 2021. Well I got a Bighorn. I want some free Bling. Maybe they give me a 2021 Laramie straight up? LOL ?? For giggles, I may go and chat and see wat numbers, but if they think I gonna pay 10-15K to get a 2021 when my 19 is paid for, that is like paying 5K a year to drive my truck, They funny, LMAO. They got a modded Laramie with a 6" Rough Country lift kit, etc, really pretty. But I am not gonna pay to own, and not sure I feel like giving up a lot of the great ride to ride in a lifted ride, hee hee, them lifted babies ride hard. Older BOIRD, tuff tail feathers.

2500 6.4L Hemi 4.10's 'Off-Road'
My son just traded his 2018 2500 6.4 last weekend for a '21 2500 Cummins. New truck was $67,000. His had 95,000 on it but was clean. Had a carfax from when he got rear ended and bent his bumper. 2 dealers. 1 said they'd give him $25,000 and the one he traded it on gave him $29,000. That same truck is advertised on the net for about $45,000-50,000. They would not budge on either price. That was the only 2500 Cummins they had on the lot. They had a 2015 3500 Cummins with a rusted bed with 152,000 miles for $47,000. I even told him that and he said 'well it has a clean carfax and it wasn't from Canada'

Yah - there's 2 sides to this hysteria - sure they wanna get ahold of our rides, but even if we could get premo price, what's available? Either a scarce, over-priced new ride not configured to our liking, or nothing due to the global chip shortage.

I be sticking with my ride. Too much excitement at my age now.

No, It has been paid off for four years and don't want to start over with all the mods I have. When I bought it, I planned on keeping it for at least 10 years if not more. I may replace one of my other vehicles, but this one is staying. Although if Ram came out with a ZF 8-speed with the Cummins then that might get my attention.

If it wasn't for the wife and our son my 16 would be up for sale. We all really like the truck but paid $28k for it with 64k miles now its got 99k miles and trade in is $33-38k. Once it gets closer to winter if the value goes up more it might be going up for sale if the bosses allow it. I'd just drive my work car and maybe pickup an older ****** truck to run back and forth to the dump with. Then hopefully in a few years when everything calms down get another newer one.

OK, I took a ride in the Lifted Truck. Real nice pretty truck. The biggest issue was: I am 5'8" on a good day. I have to hop up/jump down to get into 6" lifted truck, it was that high. SO had to give em a Hard No. But it was pretty.

i sold my 2012 slt to my local dealer.got a decent price for it considering the mileage and the fact it needed 5k worth of repairs.i got an email from the dealer that i bought my power wagon from asking if i was interested in selling for a deal i couldn't refuse(their words).considering i paid 100 thousand k for it,i don't see how they could possibly sweeten the deal enough for me to sell it.it only has 4000 kilometers on it.i told them to make me a deal to see what they would offer but i got no response so far.regardless, there's no way i'd sell it anyway.

If you've got extra vehicles on hand and you don't have to buy something else, why not unload your truck now and reap the benefits.

Unless you are were grossly upside-down right out of the gate, pretty much everyone will make money right now selling their pickup truck.

My 2019 classic isn't paid off yet (not in a big hurry given the 1.8% rate I got through my CU) , but based on what KBB "good" value says today, I could pay it off and still be ahead by $10-12K.

Problem is, I paid ~$27K +TTL for my one year old classic. They want $35K+ for a comparable used truck right now if you can even find one.

Yeah mine is a 2018 2500 6.4 4.10's. Considered an SLT but has the Outdoorsman Off-Road package. Basically a Big Horn with full console, touch screen nav, etc. Has 23,000 miles on it. I bought it with 8000 on it for $40,000 but the dealer also gave me $4000 more for my trade than anyone else was going to so could argue I got it for maybe $38,000. See similar with more miles than mine for $50,000 so could probably get more than I paid. Plus I only owe about $15,000 on it. Problem is there isn't anything I want and even if I did I don't want to spend $70,000 on the next one...lol

Sold my 2021 1500 Limited for 65k. Paid 63,700 out the door back in October and put 12k miles on it. Picked up a new 21 2500 with the Cummins. Not nearly as good of a deal but I am happy.

Wow.... this peaked my interest so I ran KBB and NADA #s. 2014 2500 6.4 Hemi Outdoorsman w/112K. Basically all stock and in good shape. KBB was up around 35K, NADA was closer to 30K. Totally crazy since I paid 39K 7+ years ago.

I actually could move some things around and sell but it would be complicated. I'm living in Hawaii about two-thirds of the time and only need the truck to move the 5th wheel that I live in when on the mainland. But the 5th pretty much doesn't need to move.... but something about having a towable RV with nothing to tow it with seems a bit silly. But with 35K I could pay a lot of transporters or buddies. Decisions, decisions....

I currently need a truck to pull a 5th wheel trailer. Or I would have sold my 2020 RAM 3500 Tradesman ** Aisin CC LB dually and made a profit of 8 grand over what I paid for it.

But I cannot replace it reasonably.
