I currently need a truck to pull a 5th wheel trailer. Or I would have sold my 2020 RAM 3500 Tradesman ** Aisin CC LB dually and made a profit of 8 grand over what I paid for it.

But I cannot replace it reasonably.
Exactly If you want to get rid of your current truck, this is the time. just dont expect to find any stock on the dealers lots. Or expect to get any discounts right now.

My Ram dealer offered me $35K for my 2016 Tradesman Power Wagon (lowball offer at best, doesn't even meet NADA rough trade-in value). Crazy times. Sounds good initially, until you can't find a new one on the lot equipped with desired options. I was in the local Ford dealer today for a recall on car and in our small talk, I mentioned their sales lot was thin. The service manager was telling how they usually sale 110-115 vehicles a month and get the same in deliveries. During and after pandemic, they get maybe 10-15 vehicles a month, if that. Repair and service is even worse. Many electrical components are out of stock and he said he had a couple dozen or so cars and trucks in back waiting on parts, many for several months, and due-in dates from corporate supply was unknown, like you'll get it when we get it. The owners are hurting, these are parts required to operate the vehicle and without it, nothing but a boat anchor.

When we pay people more to sit at home, don't have to pay rent or mortgage, what can we expect to happen?

nice to have a very expensive vehicle sitting waiting on parts while your warranty merrily fades away.

I traded a 2019 PW for $5000 more than I paid in Nov 2019. Had 14K miles and when purchased was heavily discounted off the MSRP, about 12K off. Put the equity towards a 75A PW at full sticker. That's the other side of this hysteria, dealers wont negotiate or budge on their asking price for new because they know someone else will pay. If you traded today and banked the money, wait until the market levels off that's the move I guess, to get a new truck with some rebates, but who knows when that will be.

My God.... *** is with this new format on the site??? I can't highlight text to quote and can't get rid of quotes once I highlight and quote it. I even closed/opened the site and apparently my unpublished quotes follow me like a felony record. How is it that the most simple function was just completely screwed up? Memo to IT guys: Sometimes things that are working can just be left alone. I frequent roughly a dozen different message boards and this is just F-ed up. I'm just a simple guy with decent computer skills that likes to hang out here and quote people with my replies. Sorry to go of on a rant here but I don't know how to get rid of the quotes so my "reply" is a mess anyway.

Where the hell is the obligatory garbage can/delete button in the formatting?????

Biggest issue I'd have trading in or selling is losing the MaxCare warranty. That one thing is worth its weight in gold. No way I'd give up either my Ram or Durango since they both basically have lifetime warranties. A dealer would have to offer me the most ridiculous trade to get me to bite.

No doubt this new site format sucks. The font is smaller and its not as intuitive. Not a fan.

I’ve thought about selling, but I would have nothing to tow my camper with.

So here is my sons old truck. They gave him $29,000 on trade for a 2021 2500 Cummins Night Edition. They are asking $49,000 for his old one. They wouldn't budge on his trade in or on his new one.

I've been keeping my eye on used prices of these trucks and they are absolutely ridiculous. KBB is showing a trade-in range of $43,022 - $49,671 as of today, July 15 for my 2016 2500 Mega Cab Laramie with 80k miles. Just for giggles, I went to Car Shop (previously Car Sense here in Pittsburgh) yesterday and had them give me a cash offer and they offered $40,000. I know for sure they didn't input the options correctly so I do believe I should be able to get around $45k elsewhere. In a normal market I can't imagine this truck should be worth more than say $30k.

I paid this truck off earlier this year and have the title for it and another vehicle to drive until the market adjusts in a year or 2. As much as I absolutely love this truck it is hard not to pass up say $45k cash in hand when I paid $52k 5 years ago. What say you?
I took advantage of the craziness. 2 months ago I traded in my 2020 F250 for a 2021 Laramie ED. Plus got $3500 back from dealer. What they didn’t know was that I purchased the F250 5 months into covid and made a crazy deal on it. They thought they screwed me but they didn’t!!

I’m keeping mine for the long haul. It’s almost paid off and then I’m gonna drive it into the ground. I hope to get 250,000 miles out of it.

I've been keeping track of the KBB trade-in value of my truck for the past few weeks and so far it looks like this (Average / High):
July 12th: $46,166.50 / $49,491.00
July 19th: $46,200.50 / $49,512.00
July 26th: $46,005.00 / $49,189.00

Very little fluctuation yet. I have a camping trip planned for next month and am definitely going to keep it through August. If prices are still up at the end of August I might put both my truck and camper for sale as a combo deal to see if I can get any hits. Everything is paid for so it would just be money in the bank until things calm down and I could go buy a new truck and camper for probably the same amount as my old truck and camper. Who knows.

For giggles I put a coat of wax on the camper last weekend and took pics in case I do put it up for sale...turned out so nice and shiny!

I have got the fever for a new truck... & at the worst time! I am wanting to upgrade to a 3500 srw with the HO Diesel. I am disciplining myself to wait another 6-12 months for two reasons. 1. the market is so out of whack right now & 2. I would like to wait until they come out with a different tranny for the diesels. Every week I go on NADA & see that my current truck (16' 2500) is worth another 1,000. Currently it is worth 37k. It was 50k new & I got it out the door for 40k. I love my current truck. In fact I like the 4th gen body style better than the 5th gen, but it's paid off & I still have the bug for a new one!

I have mine listed on car gurus. According to them I’m almost 5k under market. Almost had it sold yesterday. 51232410-F6C5-4435-B53D-DCBC310AA2A4.png

geez. i could probably get $50-55 for mine. and it was only about $54 new...lol. Well sticker said something like $73,000 but that was Canadian. I only have 23,000 miles on mine with no carfax. Problem is I'd need a new one and that would be $70,000

I use KBB, Edmund's, NADA for valuation. KBB is usually high, Edmund's middle, and NADA low, so I normally use Edmund's "True Market Value" regional valuation guide for negotiating selling and buying. Minimal hassles with both work for me.
