Nice setup! This is the 5th gen section, though.

Ram with pontoon.jpg I've only had my Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi with the 8 speed for about a month, but I love the eight speed. I have a 23'pontoon boat that weighs about 4500 pounds and it catches a lot of wind while being towed. My Ram handles that effortlessly and it's like there is nothing back there. Tow/Haul mode works great, as does the gear limiter feature. These options make towing something really much easier than it was with my previous Ford trucks. I haven't pulled anything that is close to the maximum weight limit, but the pure strength of the 6.4 paired with the eight speed is quite satisfying. I doubt the truck would have much problem pulling something heavier.

I posted this in another thread, but maybe this is the better thread to post. I'm looking into a slide in truck camper which requires a 3500. The 6.4 8spd combo sounds like a good alternative to diesel and will help with registration fees if I get a ccsb. Anybody hauling a TC with this setup? I know it's a rare setup, but if so I'm interested in your review!

If it were me I’d consider getting an 8’ bed. It’ll provide some better stability on the road. That size camper on a 6.4 bed will put too much weight on the back of the truck. Nose high scenario.

Would airbags help with a nose high scenario? I'm not totally against a LB, but a SB is a better fit for my location.

St. Louis to Sturgis (1000 miles each way) pulling a 24' enclosed motorcycle trailer (6'6" tall) with just 3 bike, I believe @ 6,000 lbs, got 11 mpg's but moving between 75 and 85 mph.

Yes they would help tremendously. I’d make sure it’s a good brand though like the timberen grove air bags I think that’s the name.

Well, bags will certainly help overall, especially with the rear sag and headlights in the air, but they will not really help all that much with the front end lifting up.

And I agree with mcboom, a longbox would be much better suited for the task I think. Much depending on how large of a unit you will be using.

357F38A0-C859-4909-B38C-52EFA02241E6.jpeg Hey guys just thought I would do a little update on my ride. We are now a few months into the rodeo season and a lot of miles this new 19 gasser is doing great. We average 11.6 most of the time and it still works just fine.

Thank you I was worried about how this truck was going to pull our trailer. I am very impressed with all power and the 8 speed is great.
