I recently purchased a 2017 ram Longhorn and I am trying to activate Apple Car Play. I get to the point where my phone is searching for the vehicle. It never recognizes the vehicle. What am I doing wrong?

The factory 13-17 Harmon 3c RA3/VP3 & Ra4/Vp4 8.4 radios Do NOT support Android Auto/ Carplay in any way (BT handsfree calling is about it) ... 2018 was the first year it was an option.
You'd need to replace the radio with a compatible 4th Gen ram 4c Panasonic unit from a 2018/19-22 classic (and maybe a few other things depending on your trucks setup).
