2019 Ram 3500 Crew Cab Laramie Big Horn with the 1000 ft/lb torque engine! Almost done with our first long distance tow. We pull a 16K lb 5th wheel. Close to 10000 miles on truck with close to 7000 miles towing from Houston to Seattle and other places! Amazing truck a dream to drive have pulled over 500 miles several days. Only wish I have is that I need more diesel. 28 gallons is not enough!!! What's the better solution?

Odd how truck makers decide how large a fuel tank to provide. GM provides a 36 gallon tank with their diesel 2500/3500 trucks but only a 26 gallons for their 1500 gas trucks that get no more miles per gallon of fuel when towing. Ford's F-150 comes with a 23 gallon gas tank.

At least with diesel you can still buy an aftermarket fuel tank and not have to take up space in the bed.

Here is a new 52 Gal Diesel replacement tank option. https://www.sbtanks.com/2013-2019-67-cummins It fits the short bed 2500 and 3500 (this is not clear). Possible disadvantage is the tank hangs 2.4 inches lower than OEM tank. There is not a tank skid plate option yet but one could be fabricated.

I am in the process of installing next week this 40 Gal in Bed auxiliary tank.

With both you could have 92 Gals of fuel capacity.

My Chevy diesel came stock with a 36 gallon tank. I am looking at the Ram 1500 trucks as I can get the 33-gallon gas tank. At least with diesel it is still legal for companies like Titan to sell aftermarket replacement diesel fuel tanks.

I have this one and it is level with the bed rail and I have a plastic bed liner. Still plenty of room in the short bed to hook up the gooseneck. They sell a kit to pipe it into your existing fuel tank so it automatically fills the main tank as you drive. When my fuel gauge starts to come off full, I know the auxiliary tank is empty.
