Good morning folks,

I am looking to glean some info off the people in the know.....

I have printed off the build sheet for my 1996 2500, and under the axle section for the front it says Dana M60/248MM Front Axle 4850 lbs. Would that mean it's a dana 60? And the rear says 200mm 6085 lbs. Would that be a 60 as well? Or what axle would I have in the rear? The combined gross weight rating by build sheet says 14,000 lbs.

Any insight would be appreciated. Asking around here where I live seems to give some people brain cramps....

248 mm equates to 9-3/4" (ring gear dia), which is as you suspected a Dana 60. However, the rear at 200 mm Calcs roughly to 8.25" RG dia. Now it seems unlikely to me they would put an 8.25" in anything other than a 1/2 ton. But never say never. So if you look at the front axle(from the cover side) you may see a raised "60" number cast into the cast gusset on the bottom (right?) of the cast center section of the axle. You can also count the bolts and note the shape of the cover on the front driving axle. Now compare to the rear. You can also Google rear axle ID's and confirm ID.

Chrysler lists the rear Dana 60 as 200mm. Completely common on every V8 2500 build sheet I've seen. Its Chrysler, when do they ever make sense :insane:

Nice! thanks guys. I was also reading for the axles it says front hypoid and rear semi floating, full floating. And 4.10 gear ratio.
