I have a 2013 Megacab Laramie 4x4 CTD with the 8.4AN and the backup camera in the nav screen. When backing and turning right, as I get around a half turn on the wheel from the steering stop the guide lines on the screen disappear. I took it in a couple of weeks ago and the dealer, after some testing and adjustment checking said the problem was in the radio. They didn't have one in stock so they ordered it.
On the same visit I took the truck to the body shop for some warranty work, but they had to take pictures and get approval to do the work. About a week later I got calls that the radio was in and the body work had been approved. I took the truck in on Monday.
They finished the body work today and took the truck to the service shop. About an hour later I get a call from service and, as near as I can tell, the factory disallowed the repair and recalled the radio. The service adviser said they opened a case and were told that the lines disappearing was "normal functionality" which, I think is dealer-speak for we don't know what causes that. The SA told me they checked several other trucks on the lot and they all did it.
I don't think "they all do that" is the same thing as normal functionality. Normal functionality is when the unit performs as it should, i.e. if the lines stayed on from lock to lock.
What experience does anyone have with this problem? I think I was told that it was normal for diesels. Do the gas trucks do the same thing? Has anyone successfully fixed this?
Thanks,
Al
