backup camera part numbers

the truck is a 2012 3500 dually, has a factory installed backup camera, the dealer says it doesnt work because the camera itself is bad, they say the replacement camera is p/n 56054164ad, they want $400+ for a new one, yet online a 56054164ac is less than half that, would the AC camera work, does anyone know what the difference might be THANKS

The last letter usually means the latest version of a part, sometimes the only difference in the updated part is a supplier change.... at least this is what I've read online.
