Anyone have a BCM backup file for the 16/17 1500 they could share? Promise to keep the VIN and PIN secret.

By backup copy went the way of the Dodo after a hard drive crash and now all I have is the quite modified one in the BCM that I did another backup on.

I suppose I could go in, return everything back to day1 using the PDF printout as a reference, make of a backup of that, then change everything back. But I'm too lazy.

Don't think a '15 w/EcoD will help you much, D'oh!
Hind aight is 20/20 but this is a good reason to also keep a copy of the back up files in Google Drive. The chances of an enterprise class data server losing information are slim, you have better chances getting struck by lightning a couple of times.
The same applies to any other important digital media like pictures, have a copy of the ones you don't want to lose oup in the cloud.

This might be a great opportunity to start capturing an OS image to safeguard against future failures.

Pickup a portable SSD on-sale at Staples or elsewhere. The same process can be followed if you have a Windows 11 device.

Hopefully Macrium Reflect Free is still free or you can locate a legacy copy that still functions.

LOL. It was my corrupt backup diskdrive (usb SSD) that corrupted the drive. Double whammy

Anybody ever bought a cheap laptop and just dedicated it to AlphaOBD. I'm only speaking from my slotcar experience,as i have 2 cheap laptops, one is dedicated to just my slotcar track, and the other one is dedicated to my little minature slotcar dyno.My figuring is i don't ever update them, and they are never used for anything else,so i'm hoping i'll never have to deal with either one being corrupted,as they don't ever get plugged into the internet

Corruption usually happens when someone surface those "questionable" websites Doh!
The gotcha with most programs/apps is you usually need to updates for bug fixes and new features. The old adage goes, fix one problem create two more.
You're probably better off running AlfaOBD on Android as it regularly updated and not many bugs persist with it. From what I've read is Windows isn't supported as good as the Android version.

It wasn't a website. I do not patronize any questionable website, especially since my PC and laptop are used to access some gov't sites and have fed lockdown software on them. If I need something off a site that is questionable to me, I use my Ubuntu machine and run a suite of tests on it during and after download..

Was a corrupted MBR on the USB SSD backup drive that played some ugly games on the PC when I was using to correct the MBR. Wiped out the one partition on my PC that had the drive repair software on it (and the original config file). Other partitions weren't effected. That SSD doesn't see any internet usage or website cache. All has been corrected and good to go except a handful of files I couldn't recover.

I have had absolutely zero problems running AlfaOBD on the laptop using Win10 or 11. Just my preference.
