Beater with a heater - what trim level is it?

I bought a 1997 Ram 1500 yesterday but am unclear on trim levels. The build sheet says SLT decor group which I assume is Laramie. What flavor do I need to select when searching for parts?

Trying to attach build sheet. I just want to know what to add to my Advance Auto garage so I'm hunting for correct parts as needed.

SLT is not Laramie. Those are two different trim levels.

SLT is one step up from the base work truck.s

As far as interior/exterior trim parts, use the SLT nomenclature. As far as powertrain just order based on the standard engine/transmission/differential 1500 parts.

Thanks. I wasn't even sure how much of a difference it makes either when searching for parts.

I didn't do any research before buying but was handed the keys for $300 so I couldn't pass. Runs and drives. Needs brake and suspension work but the seller had all the suspension parts and didn't want to do it.

I figure that and new fluids and I've hot a spare vehicle.

Well who woulda thought they'd do that. Ram has been pretty specific with regards to models. I wonder what possessed them to mix and match like that. I stand corrected!

My '99 was badged an SLT with the base radio, cloth interior, 5.2L SB, etc...

Makes me wonder what parts of your truck is the and what parts is the SLT. Same for the OP. His build sheet indicates a SLT level of trim.

Can I see a pic of your badge? I'm baffled by that.

It was Dodge's way of saying it's a loaded SLT back in the day.

now, they just use the names to identify the trim levels.

My '96 also has the "Laramie SLT" badge... Had me worried there that I bought a complete frankenstein.

Yeah- and technically I didn't either, since it came new with the 2-tone paint and the side ground effects that show up in the picture, plus interior upgrades that included leather seats. It was a Glaval custom package. But even so, the original price was something around $25K.
