Agreed. I'm not one who's in the "you need a one ton dually/half tons can't tow anything" crowd, but in this case, yes he NEEDS a 3/4 ton truck.

I agree. I own my 2016 and have done about as much as I can to it, but beyond it's capabilities - no complaints about the truck, it is great.

Left out a lot of info. Year, engine, bed length, cab config. 2018 Ram 1500's can carry between 1380 & 1800+ based on model details. Older trucks are generally a little less each year. Everybody does what your talking about once in a while. Watch out for railroad tracks, washboard roads, way off-camber turns, etc. & take it easy. Also, remember if you're in collision and you're overweight, you're wrong even if everything else is good; especially if injuries occur. Good luck.
