While my family was on vacation in Virginia over the July 4th weekend, we got sideswiped on the left rear of the bed. It was a low speed hit and no one in either vehicle was hurt.

The other driver was confused and insisted I appeared out of nowhere and got in front of her. Fortunately, the DVR system I installed in my Ram recorded the whole event. I was able to show both the police and her the accident as recorded by the tailgate, bed and grill cameras.

The damage to the bed didn't look significant but came out to $3500 covered by the other driver's insurance.

Should be out next week, then I am going to get back on my plan to trade up to a 2500.

That price probably includes a new FCA bumper & taillight too. The bed is definitely repairable if someone wanted to put the work into is. What did the insurance say? Are they going replace the box-side, or repair it?

I'm surprised it isn't more. A bed side costs 1k itself, plus paint blended from the rear door into the tailgate. Non metallic white is more likely to match and perhaps not need blended, but still.

I got a new rear door and bedside plus light cab corner body work after a deer hit. All done it was over 10k.
