I was trying to describe the inside panel of the tailgate which is not a flat surface where the hook side of the velcro would stick to hold the tailgate panel of the Bedrug in place. I'm familiar with the spanner between the bed and the tailgate. I've had 4 Bedrugs in trucks. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the mat with attached tailgate this time around whenever they release it.

Edit - My reason to do just the mat is I don't want to mess around popping the led lights out then trimming the Bedrug for the lights and sandwiching the edge of the Bedrug between the body and the led light lens. I did that with my F150 and it was tedious and I don't like just cutting a hole and leaving a gap.

Oh ok, gotcha. You're talking about what I referenced regarding the cap. They supply a plastic cap to slide over the upper lip, you have to loosen the tailgate access panel, it's torx bits, and the velcro sticks to the cap.

That looks so great! Do you know if will interfere with a tonneau cover in any way? I am thinking of installing the Retrax together with the full BedRug.

Thanks! It' won't interfere with a tonneau cover, it tucks in under the rails. I'm planning on getting one soon.

I noticed that Husky has both the full liner and the mat on their website...
Does anyone have experience with Husky as opposed to Bedrug?

I read somewhere that Husky is a rebranded Bedrug. But anyways you’d want to call them to confirm that it’s for the new body style. They list 2019 products on their site but they are for the Classic.

So I finally got my BedRug today, so I decided to put this thing in this evening. Well everything went perfectly until I got to the tailgate....this ***** is about 2 inches too long I think. The section where the bed ties into the tailgate gets bunches up and the tailgate won’t close.

If I pull it aft to where it folds properly, this is what I end up with.

This is how the tie in material should lay I think.

I was trying everything, but think it’s just too long. Everything else fits perfectly and it’s positioned correctly everywhere else....I’m at a loss here.

Anyone have anything happen during their installation? If so, what did you do to correct it?

I’m going to call BedRug tomorrow and see what they say.

I got mine in the other day. No worries. Previous post is correct. You need to have a little 'hump where the tailgate hinges. What I did was pressed that 'bridge/flap' of fabric down into the cavity where your tailgate harness lives...make sure that top adhesive/velcro part matches up to that j-shape piece you installed, there should be no overhang at all. Once you have it attached at the top and bottom of the tailgate there will be a little hump. If you pull that hump out of that cavity so it's 'up' the tailgate should close fine. I don't ever fiddle with mine either after that first close. Each time I open and close the tailgate now I make no adjustments and nothing gets caught or stuck.

I dont think it opens completely flat....you're supposed to leave a "hump" of material at the tailgate hinge area.

Yeah, if I position the tailgate piece correctly on the tailgate, there is too much material at the gap and prevents the tailgate from closing properly.

Thanks for that info, I’ll try again and see if I can get the gap section adjusted. Hopefully I’m the idiot and BedRug manufactured it correctly[emoji3].

Mine did that at first too, its since worn in enough that it closes OK.

I tried keeping it from folding into the gap when closing, but that took too much time everytime I closed the tailgate. I am keeping an eye on it, though, hopefully it wont wear out the "hinge" carpet on the BedRug.

I gave it another go this evening and got it positioned and secured. Tailgate closes fine, as long as the material doesn’t sag into the gap. I’m going to go with it and see how it does.....but I still think there is too much material (maybe I’m just being to over critical). Here’s a couple pics.

Sorry but it was dark when I took the photos (I’ll get a few more tomorrow).

BedRug is in and looks fantastic...now. I’m super pleased with how it turned out. Tailgate gap material folds up and out of the way every time I close it, so I guess the engineers at BedRug know what they’re doing[emoji3].

Also installed my BAKFlip MX4 and went on without a hitch and operates superbly with the BedRug.
