Since my truck is in the dealer's bodyshop for a few days and I'm bored without it, thought I'd show my LED's I installed a couple weeks ago:

Wow they look really good behind the grill. I have pods next to my tow hooks. How well does the light get out?

Actually the grill blocks very little light, I plan on getting another set of them with flood lenses to go beside these ones since they're spot pattern lights.

Doesn't look bad at all. Would love some output shots on a dark road or parking lot before and after the pods are on.

I would think a longer 20" light bar would fit the grills design better… esp when lit. But I always thought the grill would block a lot of light.

Yea looks like they throw a pretty good amount of light. My headlights are basically worthless. I looked into getting an LED strip to mount across the front. Tossed that idea once i realized how damn expensive those LED strips are haha.

I'll have to take some pictures when I get my truck back, I did consider putting a 20" in but decided not to since I thought the bar in the middle would block too much to be worth it. This setup only cost $100 all in, so once I get another set of floods it'll only have cost $180.

That's not bad at all. I'd say well worth the price.

I wonder if this is possible with a 2014 and the active shutters?

Looks great behind the grill.

What are you guys using for the 20" light bar and how was the installation? Did you have to customize brackets to mount it?

I did a 20" behind the grill and removed the active shutters... I did leave the active shutter motor connected, but I was still getting a CEL for it.

So I put the active shutters back in, and removed the 20" LED behind the grill.

Here is a pic though....

ive been wanting to do this as well. theres got to be a way to take the grill shutters out. I wonder if the dealer could disable that function in the ECM?

I used the brackets and everything my bar came with, no altering anything. I just measured and drilled two holes for mounting on the brace in front of the radiator, left bolt was kinda hard to install cause there's no room, took about a hour.

You can just drill holes and mount it to the bar in front of radiator, I made some brackets so as to put the bar as close to the grill as possible.

This is easily done without the Active Shutter crap in the way!! When I had mine removed, my truck actually ran cooler.....
