About a week ago I heard some belt squeal and shortly thereafter my ‘check gauges’ warning came on and voltage was pegged low. I changed the alternator and put a new belt on and now I have a pretty bad belt squeal. It is not all the time but when I am pushing on the throttle and worse at higher rpm’s. I have inspected the belt and it appears that I have it in all the grooves correctly. I am suspecting that the new alternator may have some bearing resistance but I am not sure.

Any thoughts?

It might be the belt tensioner, over time they can weaken and the belt will slip.

Yes, check all pulleys, could be their bearings, also.
