Looking to add air bags to my truck for towing. I would like to install a system with an on board compressor and be able to use it, from inside the truck, and possibly be able to use it to air up tires as well. I was thinking something with a small gauge and manual controls, meaning I can add air and take air out as I need

I was looking for the same thing and after seeing this and hearing AIR BAGS are best for hauling extra weight in the bed I’m going with a Weight Distribution Hitch!

I have Timber Grove air bags and a WDH. For a 1500, they are both needed for towing fairly large trailers; otherwise you will probably have rear end sag and possibly bottoming on the suspension while towing.

Personally I would go with AirLift 1000 and put the savings towards WDH. I only used the airbags every so often otherwise they were running at minimal PSI.

Another one that uses both air bags and a WDH while towing. Even with an 8K trailer I stay level with sufficient weight transferred back to the front axles.
You can't go wrong with either the Timber Grove or AirLift 5000 air bags. One of the pitfalls per say with the AirLift 1000s is your need to fully inflate them before loading the truck.

Would really like you folks thoughts on "aftermarket" air bags for my 2018 2500 CC SLT 6.4 2WD. I donot trip over dollars to save nickels and dimes. Would like to know which brand you think is the best quality most reliable.

Airlift has a lifetime warranty on everything that comes in the box, I haven't and don't know anyone who's used it due to issues but its good piece of mind knowing its there. I put Airlift brand in my truck this week, and my dad has had airlift in his for the last 4-5 years. No issues yet and preform better than expected.

I don't expect to pull no more than 3500...with bed full MAYBE 200lbs!! Do you think AIRBAGS are needed...or the WD HITCH is good enough @ people in the cab

Airlift is hard to beat. We have a bunch of customers running it and are very happy with Air Lift! Let us know if you would like a quote on anything. We also offer Weight safe hitches if interested.

Ram recommends using a WDH starting with a trailer around 5K lbs. My fishing boat on the trailer is about 3300 lbs, I don't even bother adding anything other than the 5 lbs min air pressure and it has surge brakes. The passengers in the truck actually reduce the amount of weight transfer needed by a WDH(if one is required). A properly adjusted WDH at least restores the lost front axle weight caused by tongue weight (weight behind the rear axle).

That's my point. For a little effort/planning you can save (In Canada) almost $400.00 by going to the 1000 over the 5000. That will cover almost all of a WDH up here. So you have to pump up prior or run your rig pumped up more no biggy vs savings.
I also found the 1000 took about 20 minutes to install in total most of witch was running the airlines to the back hitch and strapping them neatly. I ran 2 lines rather than connecting to the Y and 1 to the back.

Airlift 5000 on 7” maxtrac lift need 1” spacer on top of bags I don’t tow much just a couple of skis and gear hated the lean so I put these in but I do haul more in the bed for work and they work great less lean depending on psi but most importantly I keep my steering

I installed the Timber Grove air springs/bags. They are top quality, easy install and the owner gives outstanding service. I added Air Lift WirelessOne Compressor System - # 25870. It comes with a wireless remote that allows me to increase or decrease PSI from inside the cab.
