Still looking for a sub. What do you suggest 8" 10" or 12"? I'm not looking for the bass to be overpowering or booming.

I'd say 10". As far as cheap waiting for a.good used one might be better than a cheap cheap one. The enclosure is just as important and the speaker.

I’ve got a Sound Ordinance B8PTD (Crutchfield house brand). It’s a powered 8”. $189. Plenty of bass for a truck cab. You can’t really hear it very much outside the truck, but I have no interest in making the rest of the world listen to my music with me. It fits perfectly underneath the middle seat in my truck, which is a mostly useless space for anything else anyway. That way I’m not using any useful storage space, and the sound is perfectly placed in the middle of the cab.

Apologies for not being more specific. What was the max height and width you could utilize for the sub?

I never took measurements. I just bought the sub and then found out it would fit under there. You can look up the measurements for that sub and compare it to the pictures. If it was more than about another quarter to a half inch wider or taller then it would not fit underneath the seat brackets. You can see it is nearly touching them in the picture.

As an alternative, you might be able to fit some thing that was a little wider in there if you turned it sideways. I just prefer it this way so that I can access the adjustments without having to get underneath the seat to do it.

My only gripe with that sub is that it won’t go below 40hz. Not a big deal most of the time, but every now and then I wish it would go lower. I may eventually try to switch to one that is a tiny bit bigger that will go to 32hz. Just costs twice as much.

Thanks for the 411. That was exactly what I was looking for.

I am in the middle of replacing the whole sound system in my truck. The door speakers are due to be delivered next week and I am lining my ducks up just in case the setup doesn't have enough base to pay homage to John Bonham accurately.
