Hey guys i was wanting to know what my best opition for lifting my new 2012 4x4 crew cab. I only want to lift it a few inches no more than 4. I am trying to keep the ride good because i spend alot of time on the road. I had a 07 before this but it was a 2wd so i never lifted it. and i am on a budget so i am looking a body lifts and coil spacers i guess?

a 2-2.5 level with a 1.25 body lift would run you less than $200 for parts. Not bad, and a hell of a change!

Is there any brand or company that you would suggest over another?

I love my Hell Bent Steel leveling kit.

Here's what a 2" HBS kit, with a 1.25 RCX body lift looks like on 295/60/20 Trail Grapplers

How much of a total lift (including bigger tires) would you say you got from the stock set up. Im trying to gauge how big your truck actually is.

Looks nice btw.

Go order you the 2.5'' RCX kit with the 1.25 body for a total of 3.75'' of lift. I didnt notice any ride diff. at all. I would buy this kit again !!!

You will lose ride quality with spacers. Do bilstein 5100 leveling struts and set them at 2.1" and then get you a 1.25" rcx body lift. This will run you about 320.00 for everything.

I was under the impression that ride quality stays the same with the spacers...?

^^^^ Bilsteins are your best bet, I have them on my 3rd gen and they are awesome.

im going to dis agree with big horn, i had a rcx 2.5 level before my lift and the ride was no different than stock. when your getting into a 6'' lift im sure the bilsetins helped but you can get the rcx level for like 130 bucks. great way to make your truck stand out for cheap

You will lose ride quality with spacers.

When you have an ifs system and you put a 2" to a 2.5" spacer lift on a truck it stiffens the front end. So it does take some of the quality away from your ride.

You are wrong.

I have ran the HBS 2" kit on both my 08 and my 10. I had no change in ride quality whatsoever.

Correct.

I didn't do any measurements on it.......but I think (based on what I've seen people post on meaurements) that I am about 3.5" higher in the front.

Im wrong? Ok whatever. Ive had leveling kits on all types of trucks and every leveling kit that were spacers made my trucks ride stiffer. Do what you guys want to your trucks and I guess dont listen to my two cents because im WRONG. lmao

Yeah, you're wrong. Putting more stress on the coil springs do nothing to affect ride quality. A 3 inch leveling kit actually helps it LOL

I'm curious as to how putting more stress on the spring using a spacer helps it?

I would also love to know how spacers "help" in any way besides lifting

And Ive never heard of spacers affecting ride quality
But Ive heard of owners experiencing the 'death wobble' while in 4wd, but thats it

ive had lifts and level kits in chevs and dodges... usually they have been rougher BUT the 4th generation seems to ride just as good and it times it seems better when hitting bad bumps...

big horn have you had a level in the 4th gens?

I have a 4th gen and do notice a ride quality difference from stock to a 2.5" level but then again I did put trail grapplers on immediately after so I can't tell if it was the level or the tires causing the ride change. But even with a slightly bumpier ride it's nothing too crazy to want to remove the level. Still haven't tried picking up speed in 4x4 to test the "death wobble", kinda scared haha.
