Quaker State Full synthetic for my 2014 5.7. 5w30 in the summer, 5w20 in the winter (most of the time temps are above freezing). FRAM XG2 or WIX 57899XP. 5000 miles OCI. Currently at 125k. Wisper quiet engine.
I used this combo then switched to PUP. I'm going back to Quaker state on my next oil change due to the price and availability. Quaker was a good oil for sure, if you add lubegard thats also beneficial. I use the Fram filters as well. The grip on the bottom is very helpful.

Time to change that brake fluid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did that today. Used a Dollar Store turkey baster and pushed 3 Qts total of Dot3 through all my calipers. I can absolutely say it was due. Brakes much firmer now. I won a “bleeder “ as a door prize years ago at an auto show and it works great. You can make one for next to nothing, but this one is pretty cool.

I'm currently on Redline 5w20 for winter. My impression of the first 1000 miles is the motor is noticeably more quiet and smooth, the loudest thing I hear now are the injectors. Looking forward to trying 5w30 in spring.
Had to quote myself as the edit button seems to be missing from older posts.

The temps dropped to mid 30's and needed to drain the Redline due to cold piston slap, even heard it when it was only 40ish. Made a 5w20/0w20 PUP/PP blend from bottles in the garage. Fast forward to now and slight ticking has returned, must have lost the Redline coating. Dumped in a bottle of LubeGard that I had in reserve for this moment so we'll see what happens. Next step is Redline 0w20 or Ravenol SFE 5w20, leaning towards Ravenol for warranty purposes but my god it is expensive... must be the -63 Celsius pour point. I'm trying to find a match (or lower) for the cold viscosity of PUP 5w20 to avoid piston slap

Why not Redline 0W-30?

I figured that was out of the question since I had cold piston slap with RL 5w20. The RL 0w20 is closer to the PUP cold visc that doesn't slap
I feel pretty bad for those of this forum who suffer through all these "oil related" problems. It's sad, considering how much one of these big super crew trucks cost, regardless of who makes them and the high levels of asinine problems consumers have to put up with.

I remember why domestics lost market share to Honda, Toyota, Nissan during the early 80's thru the 90's. Sadly, the coin has flipped in that so much of "domestic" vehicles are manufactured overseas/ across the borders, and the Asian cars are made here! What a dichotomy!

You should not have to go through this night mare after buying such a "high" end vehicle.

I have the dealer service my truck. I just tell them to use full synthetic oil and rotate the tires while I watch tv and sip on coffee. I have an oil change coming soon so I'll have to ask what kind they use. No ticks or knocks so you guy's have me curious. 142K and counting.

My 5.7 has been filled with OEM oil (Penzoil) and filter since day one. The first 30k was conventional oil and synthetic there on. This lab report was done around 90K miles.

I have always used Liquimoly 5w20 and the larger m1-301a oil filter on my 2007 dodge magnum with the 5.7. It has 185000 miles now and after doing the head gaskets the cylinders and rockers all looked great. I just bought a 2020 1500 with the 5.7 and plan on sticking with this combo. I was wondering if anyone else has tried the Liquimoly.

What year is your truck? Curious to know if your HEMI is pre 2009 model year.
2014 Ram 1500, I only switched to Synthetic because while towing (truck and camper scale at #14,200) up the Rockys I was hitting 270 to 280 degrees on the oil temp. I have and continue to drive the truck hard most of the time or at least one 100% throttle pull each drive. Remote start every time before we use it and sometimes twice before we get out the door. Idling oil pressure is mid 30's when warm.

I have been using Pennzoil ultra platinum full synthetic 5w-20 for the whole duration I had my truck and I am looking to try something else for my next oil change in a few weeks along with a new filter brand. Any suggestions and links would be appreciated!
Looks like you have some choices in these responses - whatever you land on put BG MOA in with it !

Your HEMI's lab report is nice.

Imo, don't do anything different unless there becomes an issue, your oil strategy is working well so there's no need to change anything or add oil additives, etc.

Happy motoring and hammer down.

So, I just had another lab report done and asked if I should switch to AMSoil.
