Hey guys,
I just got my R/T 2 says ago and I'm looking for a lowering kit. I have my eye on the McGaughys 44050/13 as I am under the impression a drop spindle kit will have the best ride but I want the lowering kit with the best ride quality; I have no problem spending the money on the McGaughys but if it's not going to be the best riding kit, I will save myself the money for other parts. 2 quick notes - 1) I will probably never tow with this truck and 2) I'm not looking for a canyon carver.

What say you?? :favorites13:

I put the mcgaughys on my 2010 4we and love it. Rides just as well as stock. I would recommend doing the air ride 1000 helper bags with it if you plan to haul or tow everything.

I did mine myself because I own a shop, but if I were to do it for someone else I would charge about 4 hours plus the alignment.

What bags are you running,,,, I've even asked "Air Lift" and so far no luck,, I am guessing that the one spec for our trucks will not work with the shorter springs? throw me a part # and where to buy if you don't mind...

Thanks; Jeff

I got mine directly through Napa, their PN is 8271739. The spring is pretty universal but I haven't had any issues with a 4" drop. They suggest 5lb minimum to avoid pinching, I run 8lbs to be safe. It raised the rear about 1/4" . I actually like it because it gave the truck just the slightest rake. Here what it looks like with the McG kit and the bags installed.

Ps. I didn't see before that you don't plan to haul. If you don't at all, you probably don't have to have the air ride. For me, even loading my dirt bikes and gear (maybe 600lbs) started to squat it so I put them on so it's never sagging.

Thanks OG! Just outta curiosity, have you ever ridden in a truck with the Beltech as a point of reference?

I have not. A lot of people say there's no difference, but i see a lot of people on here chopping their coils and saying it rides fine with no ill affect. Well, that's BS, a progressive coil can not be chopped and have no affect on it's ride.

I went with the McGaughys because it maintained all the OEM front suspension components and it achieved exactly what I wanted, it rides like stock.

I will say, the McG front spindles set the front wheels out about 3/8 of an inch from stock. By my measurements it actually makes it exactly as wide as the rear, I believe they're a little narrower from the factory. As you can see on mine it's not very noticeable.

When I out the truck on my alignment machine after I did the install every single measurement was exactly where it was prior. I just had to set the toe and go. Can't beat their kit in my opinion.

Did you install it yourself or pay someone? If so, how much did it cost?

my guy did it for $250 with the install of drilled and slotted rotors and new ceramic pads and an oil change. The alignment was almost dead on.
