I'm trying to finish out the box on my new 2020 Laramie 2500: both shell/cap and bed liner.

Any thoughts on the best camper shell?

I recently bought a new Leer camper shell. I went with Leer because they seem to be the most well known brand. I don’t have any experience with other shell companies. So far I have no complaints.

I have a post on this forum with photos if you want to browse through:

Snug Top is still one of the best and being in California they are sort of local to you. I really like how the shell goes over the rails and doesn’t just sit on top of them. I had one on my Tacoma, it was pretty nice.

I also wouldn’t hesitate to get a Leer. They have a solid reputation.

I had a Century brand on my 95 and would certainly purchase another one. The fit & finish were excellent, and I liked the way the windows with screens opened. With the optional carpeted ceiling, and a Bedrug in the box it was ideal for me.

Thanks, all.

Local guy selling Century shells says that Leer, Snug-Top, and Century are all made by the same company but then trimmed out differently by the individual companies. I assume that just refers to the fiberglass body which is what really affects the fit on each model truck, so they should all fit the same.

I have an A.R.E windowless cap that I've added some stuff to make it a sweet overland build.

I got a Leer 100XR. Very pleased so far. It seems that the rear end of the canopy rests slightly higher than the roof of the cab, but not likely higher than the antenna. Good enough color match. Good contouring to the rear of the cab and where the hatchback window marries up to the tailgate.

$2475 in Portland, OR.

I have a 2014 RAM 1500 with an ARE shell and it sucks. It leaks big time around the back of the shell where it interfaces with the truck bed. I am on this thread trying to find something other than an ARE shell for my new 2023 RAM 1500.

ARE interior finish, rough, at best. Fit and finish on rear door window terrible. >>> Wish I had bought a Leer. <<<
