Good morning team,

Looking for advice I have a stock 2017 ram 1500 tradesman which I have done some things to to make it perform better for my taste and would like to take on some light off roading. I have added a 4" lift, 33" Toyo 3 with 15" rims from 4 wheel parts, i have a pulsar tuner with aftermarket K&N performance air filter, flowmaster exhaust.

The problem is that it is still a 2wd ( RWD) and was thinking of ways to make it perform better to take to sand or light trails. Was thinking of regearing differential to like a 3.92 or 4.11 and adding a LSD to start along with a tubular bumper. Any thoughts or recommendations would be great from the ram fam! Thanks

For sand just reduce tire pressure and keep in low, not D. For light trails you could add weight directly over rear wheels to add traction.

Search out a entire rear end out of a junk yard and just swap in it out. If you have 3:55 now going to 3:92 will be a noticeable difference. If you can find a 4:10 LSD even better.

i believe i have the 3:21 now so you believe that an entire rear end swap is the way to go? and then throw in the LSD or would the rear end come with a LSD?

Admittedly I have no idea how much it costs to change out axles and rear ends. Would it be less expensive and less work to sell your present 2WD and purchase a 4WD? The cost of vehicles has risen dramatically since 2017 so it may not make sense financially but if you are looking for 4WD capabilities it may be more cost effective in the long run.

The rear with 3:92 or 4:10 is going to have LSD from the factory .
Check this site out, it makes searching pretty easy
