Exactly, the corrugated part *may* cause some turbulence but when it's slightly larger in diameter at the corrugated part than the Airaid tube it's hard to justify the cost. Plus you get oem fitment and ease of removal/installation.

I did this mod about a week ago. Installed in about 10 minutes with an AEM dryflow filter. So far I like it. Seems like I can hear the intake a tiny bit more. Maybe a little more pep, hard to tell. But should flow more air. Easy and cheap to do!

Just got the parts in today, the box/snorkel popped right in. Hardest part was transferring the lid clips. Also installed the airaid tube and filter at the same time. Haven't gone for a drive yet, not expecting anything very noticeable, but can't see how it will hurt.

So after a few drives, I'm going to say it feels more responsive, and it sounds like the intake has a bit more sound coming from it. Could be a placebo effect, but throttle response does seem better and higher rpm pulls seem to pull a bit harder. Next I want to check to see what the air Temps are running at.

I wanted the airaid JR kit so bad. But I couldnt justify $230 for a plastic tube. I was able to score an AEM dryflow (basically the same as the airaid filter) for $35 on amazon.
Maybe I'll look for one used because I do like the look of it. According to Hemi395 the Airaid tube has a smaller ID than the OEM tube.

This is exactly what I noticed as well. It's pretty much the same gains I felt with the S&B but at a fraction of the cost...

I bet you they keep the lower intake hole small for noise control. that and the epa charcol filter in the top sure do keep the HEMI noise at bay. once I fixed both I was like hey there now that sounds like a HEMI!
Definitely helped in the upper rpm range as well.

When did they start putting the charcoal filters in the upper airbox? 2018?
