Thought I'd share this with the forum, the Ecodiesel lower airbox takes the same air filter and top lid as the 5.7 trucks but has an inlet that is roughly 50% larger. The part numbers for these are:

Inlet: 68190706AB
Lower Box: 68232657AC

Links to where I got them:
https://parts.allmoparparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-air-inlet-duct-68190706ab
https://parts.allmoparparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-air-cleaner-body-68232657ac

I took a pic of my Trinity with some air intake PIDs to show it flows really well.

These parts cost around $60. So for those that want to keep things all factory parts but want to have a better flowing intake without spending hundreds this is a good choice.

Please note this is not needed on the 6.4 trucks as they already have a lower intake box that uses the bigger Ecodiesel inlet tube.

You can see by the "P-RAT MAP BARO" pid that it hit 1.00 which means the engine is getting air equal to barometric pressure. This means the intake has virtually no measurable restrictions. The OAT was about 35* that day which means the engine is injesting air 7* above ambient temp. "MAP VAC" goes down to almost 0 almost every time the throttle is pressed confirming the P-RAT value.

Thank you very much. I just got the whole Eco airbox on eBay, the whole top and bottom and and intake and everything for 70 bucks. I just took the lower bits and popped them on. Took like 10 minutes including one beer.

I took a test drive and honestly can't tell if it's better but I like it. I tow a travel trailer so more air has to help. Still has stock looks, but better than OEM. I had them next to each other and was very surprised at the difference.

Youre welcome[emoji106]

Probably won't notice a difference until WOT or when towing. It does seem to breath a bit better than the stock housing when I'm towing. Also grab a filter from the 6.4/Ecodiesel trucks because they have wider pleats and flow better than the 5.7 filters...

Anyone successfully just swap the air duct? Not seeing the point in changing boxes when you could just do that. Any pictures of the dremel work?

I'm glad someone tried this on the factory lower airbox. This makes the mod even cheaper[emoji106]

Just ordered the box, duct and a new arm filter. Would love to combine this with the airaid mit intake tube, but can't justify the $200+ price tag of the tube and filter.

Yeah IMO the intake tube isn't worth it. It's smoother than the factory tube but the factory tube is slightly larger in diameter...

yeah I quite liked the airaid jr mit for my 06 got rid of all those junk resonators but this 4th gen intake tube is so clean I cant see myself paying for another one that will look basically the same.

Exactly, the corrugated part *may* cause some turbulence but when it's slightly larger in diameter at the corrugated part than the Airaid tube it's hard to justify the cost. Plus you get oem fitment and ease of removal/installation.

I did this mod about a week ago. Installed in about 10 minutes with an AEM dryflow filter. So far I like it. Seems like I can hear the intake a tiny bit more. Maybe a little more pep, hard to tell. But should flow more air. Easy and cheap to do!

Just got the parts in today, the box/snorkel popped right in. Hardest part was transferring the lid clips. Also installed the airaid tube and filter at the same time. Haven't gone for a drive yet, not expecting anything very noticeable, but can't see how it will hurt.

So after a few drives, I'm going to say it feels more responsive, and it sounds like the intake has a bit more sound coming from it. Could be a placebo effect, but throttle response does seem better and higher rpm pulls seem to pull a bit harder. Next I want to check to see what the air Temps are running at.

I wanted the airaid JR kit so bad. But I couldnt justify $230 for a plastic tube. I was able to score an AEM dryflow (basically the same as the airaid filter) for $35 on amazon.
Maybe I'll look for one used because I do like the look of it. According to Hemi395 the Airaid tube has a smaller ID than the OEM tube.

This is exactly what I noticed as well. It's pretty much the same gains I felt with the S&B but at a fraction of the cost...

I bet you they keep the lower intake hole small for noise control. that and the epa charcol filter in the top sure do keep the HEMI noise at bay. once I fixed both I was like hey there now that sounds like a HEMI!
Definitely helped in the upper rpm range as well.

When did they start putting the charcoal filters in the upper airbox? 2018?
