Burla,
OF with the Valvoline was a wix, with the first Redline fill was an RP, the big fat one (20-820?), the second time was an RP, but the skinny one (10-48?). With the currently in the engine, I went with the long skinny one. (20-500?)

I meant the sound of the tick. Have you ever had the mani bolts looked at? can you upload a youtube taking a recording from underneath the truck? if so let me know.

Yes you are shedding visc, but the wear is so low it would be either case, as in either your tick isnt internal or it is internal. If you had high wear and shedding visc, maybe I'd lean to no doubt it is internal tick. Hemi wear simply doesn't get better then yours.

I had a local shop look at it, they said all bolts were tight and no heat shields were loose. Could it still leak anyway?

Youtube? I would't have a clue how to upload anything to it. I do have two videos of the noise during cold start up.
tho.

Youtube, there is a little camera with a + in the middle upper right, that uploads your video. make public, then when video is open, put curser in video body and cut and paste video in current time address, then paste at ram forum.

Burla,
I looked for a " + " thingy, couldn't find one. I'm guessing ya have to have an account or something. I can email them to someone if they want to do the youtube thing tho.

I have a very low powered 100 dollar netbook, wont let me download video files for the most part. Maybe you can just join? It is very easy and that uploader will appear upper right of page. Unless someone has a real computer?

20-500, yes. that's what I use. Same diameter as 10-48. 20-820 is wider and longer.

I was going to use the 10-48 but couldn't find it in stock anywhere local and shipping was going to take too long. Does 20-500 and 20-820 both work?

Depends which truck you have. 1500s yes, 2500s with 6.4 likely only 20-500.

Just recently put 5W30 Quaker State Full Synthetic (QSFS) into my new to me 2019 RAM. 540 RAT blog just recently put it on his #1 spot. I'll be doing a UOA at around 7.5K miles of this oil.

I bumped up the idle speed to 700RPM to keep the oil pressure up higher (doesn't drop below 40 now from 34-35) and a higher viscosity to hopefully add more protection at lower oil flow conditions (Idea is to keep more oil on the cams / lifters). From all the youtube videos I've watched seems like the current guess is the lifter angle, lower oil pressure at idle, and poor quality cam might be the culprit.

Interesting....... Your idle oil pressure was 34-35? Mine is 44-45 at normal idle speed. 2014 5.7 with 108K miles, Redline 5w30 and a 20-500 filter.

This is with oil temperatures "saturated" and at "peak" temperature. Engine run time is at least 30 minutes with 50% highway driving. Its the extreme low measurement. Most of the time its not that low at idle.

edit: Fram Ultra XG10060 currently. Moving to Royal Purple next change.

Gotcha. Same here. Highway, stop and go then idle.

I run Red Line 5W-30 as well, and before that, I was running Mobil 1 FS 0W-40. I can tell you that just based on the oil pressure, Red Line is slightly thicker at operating temperature than Mobil 1 FS 0W-40, and much thicker than ILSAC GF6 class oils such as QSFS 5W-30. Red Line 5W-30 is in the same class of oil as any full SAPS Euro ACEA A3/B4 spec oil, hence, the higher idle pressure. FYI, I get the same idle oil pressure as you. With any ILSAC 5W-20, I was getting 30 PSI or less at idle, depending on oil temperature. ILSAC 5W-30 is just a hair thicker than 5W-20, while they have almost identical HTFS and HTHS. I hope this info helps.
