QSFS 5W-30 9400 Miles. Driven like a race car, barely any idling, raised RPM (700-800). Fram XG2 oil filter. OCI indicator is 10K miles. This is my new go to oil as its cheap and works great. Easily goes 10k miles.

edit: This engine has less wear rate then my 2015 L83 Silverado did with the same change interval (different oil).

Incredible report all around, oil held up good and the wear is great for that young of a hemi.

I got my uoa. Break it down boys! It seems like the wear metals are high. I'm thinking it's due to cold Canadian weather taking its toll?

Wear metals don't look high to me. TBN is fine, vis is a bit low in SAE 30 VG, but I suspect it started there and is an API SP oil, that puts oils at lower end of SAE VG's to 'save fuel' ha ha. i.e. - VII additive likely didn't shear down much, but the only way to know for sure is to get a VOA for comparison. I did that for Red Line 5W-30 during hot towing summer, and it did not shear down at all. Identical 100C vis measurements.

Also telling is elevated magnesium, indicative of an SP oil to reduce LSPI in dinky motors.

Oil looks great for 6,200 miles. But - if you're concerned about lifter and cam life, I'd sure be spiking with Lubegard. The moly is low @ only 81 ppm.

The flashpoint on my uoa is lower than what it should be. I'm not quite sure what that means.

Lubegaard is difficult to get in Canada. To get higher moly, I think the only option would be redline 5w30.

I'm in NL and ordered from Can West Transmission in Edmonton for $12.80 each. Change my oil annually so wasn't hard to justify a half dozen. Still a lot cheaper than Redline, especially when I couple it with the PUP when it goes on sale

gTl base liquid can do that, do not worry about anything, not even lubegard. If you want to do it yeah ok, but you have one of those rams we all wish we had. I wouldnt change anything either, I wouldnt run redline at this point at all, it is now a high mileage ram, the only time to run redline if if you get lifter tick. Perfect report there..

Ah - this debate again...wait until failure starts then react. I'm a hard no on that for a known and documented design flaw.

Thanks everyone, its reassuring. I will repeat a uoa probably in 2 or 3 years when I hit 160000km or 100k miles to see where we are at. The main preventative measure I take for the notorious lifter/cam issue the hemi is known for are running pup5w30, synthetic media filter (wixxp) and avoid idling. I dont baby the ram as I tow about 3000km per year and am not afraid to wot.

looks good, 5w30 pup has 200ppm moly these days? Looks like one of those million mile rams.

Here's another report from my Ram. Iron went down again, continues to run well with PUP.

Those copper levels are enviable! Guess you don't have the heavy duty cooling system or whatever Ram calls it?

I've still been using a bottle of the MOS2 with each change...I think PUP is something around 50ppm moly without the added MOS2.

The truck was originally an AZ market truck - have to believe it does. It is also one of the few I have seen that came without a transmission thermostat!

Just checked the window sticker....it says:

Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
Heavy Duty Transmission Oil Cooler

Now, I don't exactly know what makes it heavy duty from 'standard'....

The truck generally has a pretty easy life. Run about 18k-20k miles / year, my commute is about 35 miles each way, and it is 98% highway without traffic. Only about 3k towing miles in total of its 120k - and all towing was a 6x12 enclosed trailer with two quads (probally less than 2k lbs when loaded).

All seems good for a half ton truck. That 100C viscosity isn't doing anything for me on a heavy duty truck with serious tow loads in summer, though.

I presume this is the latest API recipe "SP"? Thinned down oils for w*h*i*z mobiles.

Heres my latest. Previous test no Biotech Lubegard, this test is with it. PUP5w30, RP filters. View attachment 522293
looks good thanks for posting. Smart move not getting tbn, not needed anymore if you are staying with a 4k interval. Once again lubegard adds 100ppm, cool to verify that. Also, you see the heavy esters and moly raise copper in uoa's, but as you can see not the case with biotech at all, despite raising moly and adding esters. Good report thanks.
