^^ Disregard, I thought I read all the synthetic oil posts. Must have missed some. Looks like lubegard biotech is the way to go as an additive. Gonna give a small to medium sized dose a try

im sending off a sample this weekend. I feel that i remember you guys recommending paying for the TBN reading? I bought this truck about 3000 miles ago. Was always serviced at the local Ram dealer. I recently switched from the Mopar oil and filter to Redline 5w30 and RP filter. This sample is of the mopar oil. This will give me an idea of where my motor is just prior to the switch, then i have a baseline to compare how the redline does going forward.

a 3k oil change interval doesn't need tbn for anything, wont help. You send a sample with so few miles for a reason? Just generally wondering what the new truck is ****? You dont know how many miles are on the oil?

i have since figured out the tbn would be used if i wanted to extend oci. since im changing oil it would be pointless. i changed the oil early because i wanted to switch to redline 5w30. plus i had a little "incident" where my cai tube slid up on the tb and had a small gap where dust/dirt could get sucked in. so wanted to get as much of that as possible out. im at 70k miles and wanted to get her on redline as soon as possible to let it go to work. i plan to go 5000 mi on this oil and send it in for uoa.

Looks darn near perfect Zach, once again PUP proving itself as a low wear oil. Love that blend and the moly level, working real good. Visc is perfect as well, real good strategy imo.

x4 0w40, x3 5w20 at change and added a quart of 0w40

Folks check that out, results can't be argued with. Been saying 0w40 and 5w20 makes more sense then 0w40 and 5w30, and this is why. 5w20 is a stronger base the 5w30, swing is shorter. Thanks for trying this combo and posting it. Visc and moly levels are literally perfect. Instead of mixing 5w30 just run straight 0w40 or do like zach did imo. Too bad PUP just doesn't up moly level in their 5w30, because that is just what you did, create a 5w30 PUP with high moly.

Zachs 5w30 combo > Pennzoils version of 5w30 PUP.

Amsoil SS 5/20:17,000 miles on oil, filter change at 9,500k.

No ticking, only added oil when I changed filter (Filter was only rated for 15k)

Going to change oil but considering options. I'm sure I will get plenty of opinions;)

I assure you it's 5w/20 or at least the container it came from. Burla posed the same question in a different post. I guess I will give that oil another go and look for a better air filter.
