What do you do? Send your oil in before you put it in or do they already have a baseline?

Did you send a sample to Blackstone when you changed your oil filter at 9.5k?Amsoil SS 5/20:17,000 miles on oil, filter change at 9,500k.
No ticking, only added oil when I changed filter (Filter was only rated for 15k)
Going to change oil but considering options. I'm sure I will get plenty of opinions

Good to know! I was mostly going to do this for my older 2nd gens to see how the motor is holding upHow many miles on truck? You generally only send it in at the end of an interval for a gas truck. VOA's are just kind of things oil freaks do, that is a ****** sample. To see the condition of your engine, or to make sure you oil is holding up well under your interval, you send in a smple usually 7500 mile mark with tbn. Blackstone will send you a kit for free, just write a check when you send it back, I believe they are still postage paid, so you literally just pay for anaysis and tbn, very important to include tbn for an extra ten bucks.
they have a feature where you download the uoa without your personal info on their site, that is what you post in forum.
I think most guys that even bother to test their oil, sample at the end of the oil change interval. Some that are going 10k+ will sample at 5-7k to see the health of the oil. If there is a big formula change then it would be a good idea. How many guys do 2 samples every change. 1 for the oil before it goes in and the 2nd when you change it. Seems like the best way to determine how fast and how much it breaks down. Match the sample to the oil batch vs just the general formula on file.
I collect enough for 2 samples + just in case it gets lost [emoji1360]but I've never sent one in then send another at the end of an oci , only because I typically change the oil when I take the sample ....How many guys do 2 samples every change. 1 for the oil before it goes in and the 2nd when you change it. Beautiful report; the Oil came in on the heavier side of a 20w.Just got my first UOA back. Ran a mix of 5 qts PUP 5w20 and 2qts PUP 5w30 and a RP 10-48. Mostly ran the mix because it was winter and - 40 plus it was just the remains of the oil I had left on hand haha.

What did you put back in? The same mix with PUP?
Definitely want to see a UOA on that redline to compare the two.Nope, made the switch to Redline 5w30. Also forgot to add I had put some liquimoly in that fill as well just to try it out.

What I find interesting is the 20w oil is getting thicker as the miles pile up. Very interesting!Yes I sampled at 9,500 to determine if I should keep running it (Those results are on what I posted). In theory, I'm using a 25,000 mile oil. I changed filters as the baby Amsoil filters are rated at 15k. Had I known that I can put the big filter on, I would have just got the Amsoil 25k filter.
I plan on changing it and running same setup with the big filter and sample at 3k to make sure the copper wear was an outlier. If I'm not satisfied, I might switch to Redline.
Yeah I was gonna say 200ppm moly, anyhow great report for wear. But calcium was not good, need tbn.Nope, made the switch to Redline 5w30. Also forgot to add I had put some liquimoly in that fill as well just to try it out.

Interesting my PUP mix ended up on the w30 side of things. Nice report, mine was very similar! Also notable they told you to go 9,500 and 8,000 on mine - cause I'm a HD, maybe? Or maybe cause I had 1,000 miles less.
