Have had my light bar for over a year and a half. Wiring and everything else is from the original factory install 'kit'.

What would cause the fuse to blow in this manner? Damn near close to catching fire. I want to know what caused this to occur at this degree before I splice in a new fuse.

Thanks!

Any thoughts Bueller? I have checked all the connections, everything is tight. Or maybe I'm an idiot and when fuses blow, they just melt and that's how it normally happens?

what size fuse is that, and what is the current draw of the light bar...

30 amp fuse. Not 100% sure on what it is drawing, since the precise bar is no longer manufactures. It's a Diesel Power 54" curved purchased almost 3 years ago, 27k lumens. It was discontinued and seems they have since come out with the same bar, but it is now 28k lumens, 312W.

It has been functional for years and the entire wiring harness was specifically made for it as part of a kit of sorts.

I have had a share of fuses blow in my life, just never seen one appear that it caught on fire for a quick moment, to the point it destroyed the fuse box along with it. If it just happens every now and then, I'm cool with that!

That looks like a bad connect within the fuse holder and it was getting hot. What size wire is that? It doesn't look big enough for 30amp.

i agree that wire is tiny for a 30a fuse. is a 30a fuse the size that actually came with the light or one you put in? if its one you put in after the rest kept blowing your hoping for a truck fire.

how is it wired? battery to what? did you use relays?

when you say original factory install kit what are you referring to? what came with the light?

I'll need to take a better look to get the guage, but I'm guessing 12. The wiring harness was purchased with the light from the same manufacturer. There is a relay. No fuse replacement. If it is the wrong harness for the bar, I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. I have over 100 hours on the light bar.

Think I'll call DP to see what the amps are on the bar before I make any repairs.
