2024 Tradesman 6.4L Hemi 4x4 long bed... 25K miles. While using iPhone (14, 17 - its not the model) connections go from clear, to choppy, then morph into robotron highly digital and unintelligible machine voice. It happens after 10 mins or so of talking; have to hang up / break the connection, and reconnect. Most times it repeats - and have to move to speakerphone mode (which from the other persons end is an order of magnitude improvement in sound quality with no ambient noise). Anyone else know what the fix may be or what the issue is?

I wish I knew the answer to your question. I can tell you that I have experienced a similar issued when talking to my daughter, while she is in her car. She has a new Iphone and drives a Lexus SUV. She typically disconnects from bluetooth, and the conversation clears up instantly.

i'll give you the AI answer:

Awful sound quality on a 2024 Ram when an iPhone is plugged in is frequently linked to Uconnect system glitches, faulty USB-C cables, or iOS software conflicts with CarPlay. Users have reported issues ranging from distorted audio to complete audio failure.

Here are the most effective solutions based on similar issues reported in 2024 Ram models:

1. Immediate Fixes (Troubleshooting)
  • Perform a Uconnect "Soft Reset": This is the most successful quick fix. With the truck running, press and hold the power button (center of the volume knob) and the tuner knob simultaneously for 10-20 seconds until the screen goes blank and the RAM logo reappears.
  • Check the USB Cable: 2024 models use USB-C. Ensure you are using a high-quality, Apple-certified cable. Third-party or worn-out cables are common culprits for poor audio quality.
  • Clean the Phone Port: Dirt or lint in the iPhone's Lightning/USB-C port can prevent a clean data connection.
  • Disable "Mirror iPhone Silent Mode": Go to your car's Uconnect settings, locate the sound/phone settings, and turn off "Mirror iPhone silent mode".

2. Software & Settings Adjustments
  • Toggle "Voice Shortcuts": Some users found that disabling Voice Shortcuts in iPhone CarPlay settings dramatically improves audio quality.
  • Check iPhone EQ: Go to Settings > Music > EQ and try turning it off or switching to "Late Night" to see if it fixes distorted sound.
  • Update Software: Ensure both your iPhone is on the latest iOS and check if your Ram has any available over-the-air Uconnect updates.

3. Known 2024 Ram Issues & TSBs
  • Known 2024 Issue: The 2024 models have a known issue with the 12.3-inch screen software, often requiring a patch from the dealership.
  • USB Media Hub Failure: In some cases, the USB media hub in the center console fails or has loose connections, causing audio to sound awful or drop entirely.
  • Factory Amplifier Issue: In some cases, the factory amp (especially Alpine systems) can overheat or fail, causing static, which may require a dealer visit.Reddit +3
Recommended Action: Start with the soft reset (hold volume/tuner knobs). If the issue persists, replace your USB cable. If it still sounds bad, take it to the dealer for a software update or a check of the USB media hub

Appreciate the note here... guess I could have chat GPT'd it too - will give those applicable a go and update in a bit. Again thanks
