I have a basic radio 2014 ram 1500. Picture from a jeep, but it's mine exactly. I'm just looking to add Bluetooth.

I have a donor (image also included) from a 2017 promaster 2500 for 80$. Does it have Bluetooth? I do not have the microphone rear view, would this part work instead? Do I need it if I only want to stream music? I mean, the phone would be nice too.

Would this be plug and play?

Part in question for mic: http://www.leeparts.com/dodge_ram_ds_1500/accessories/audio/uconnect_microphone_kit.html

Is it just just as expensive to get an aftermarket radio installed by a pro? I'm looking to do this cheap, but working.

Most likely yes but your best bet is a ram truck radio. Either a newer 3.0 like I had or a 5.0. Both are direct swaps with bluetooth

You will need to install the factory mirror harness that costs around $35 and of course you will also need the correct microphone mirror in order for the bluetooth to work. You can pick the manual dim microphone mirror in ebay for around $40 to $50. You can also install the correct left side switch in your steering wheel to control the bluetooth and voice commands. Your truck is already wired for this. You just remove your switch and install the new one and your done. As far as the radio goes most guys upgrade to the RA2 5" touch screen radio when they do this upgrade. It's plug and play after all the the items I previously mentioned are installed. If you go with the RA2 try to get one that's the same year as your truck and deffinently make sure if your truck is a 4 door that the radio came out of a 4 door. As far as the 3" radio out of the Prostar Van goes I'm not aware of anyone who has tried it so I can't give you any advice on that. If you ran the Prostar radio you would still need the mirror harness and mirror. The harness itself is extremely easy to install in the factory location with the factory mirror and is definitely the recommended way to go. We have done this to tons of trucks. There is a thread somewhere with the part# for the mirror harness. I will see if I can find it. There are no codes needed and no other wring needed. It's basically a plug and play for your truck. The only thing I'm not sure on is the Prostar radio in your truck.
