Hawkman nailed it! Ceramic is the ONLY way to go, carbon fiber are great too and best for stopping, but put out a ton of dust, even more so than semi-metallic. That's when I discovered ceramic.

Wagners cheap line is Ceramic, thermo quiets. Decent reviews, but the OEX is having more 5 star reviews for what it's worth.

Was looking to go Power Stop Z36 as they looked like a good upgrade for a decent price but after taking a look at those Wagner OEX I think I might have just changed my direction.

Still on stock pads and rotors @83k miles!

Dang all freeway? Just looking at my pads there is no way they will make 80k, maybe 1/2 that. Plus I have dust so bad I am ready to change them jut for that. I think the 2010 had different pads.

No sir, dagum Atlanta traffic though I don’t have to commute downtown 5 days a week anymore!

I know it’s not NY or LA but for the size and population the traffic here is absolutely horrendous!

I like to think I’m a mindful driver with the brakes but who knows?! I don’t baby my ‘ol girl, I thoroughly enjoy driving her EVERY time I get behind the wheel.

Crazy thing is they’ll make it a bit longer front has about 1/4 left, rear almost 1/2 (had my trusty folks take a look last tire rotation, since I was sure they’d be getting close and he said I’m good for a bit longer).

Going to have a warning up later, just finished a brake job then going to change oil. Maybe I post in dyi or general, don't know. There is a small issue with the wagner oex (very fixable), and also a great find with oex, still highly recommend. Will update tonight.

Small issue, but can create a problem. The clips that come with OEX will dig into rotors when the pad wears down, at least the factory clips on my wife's car wouldn't. You need to either use tin snips on the clip, or re-use factory ones. But, these OEX fixed a brake squeak and a grinding issue I was having in reverse. Brake pads are fantastic, but you need to work on these clips or way early you will get rotor damage. Those parts of the clips are on the same side as the brake pad, if you leave them like that I imagine when there still is about 15k miles worth of pads left they will dig into rotors.

This wouldn't happen until you were like 75% into pad life, then that clip would hit rotor, squeak like hell. You can see I had a decent amount of pad life left in her car, but it was squeaking like hell. I put the OEX clip on the old pad so you can see what I'm saying. Easy fix, and no reason to not buy OEX, in fact I love these pads so far and h395 has been using them for 20k miles w/o issue and he puts a good load on time to time towing up and down the Ikeman. Well, at least once.

Good find Burla! So would you cut that clip flush with the pad surface on install or cut way shorter?

I guess it depends, it acts as an early warning system for when your brakes get low. So if you are the type of guy who throws new rotors at every brake job, maybe leave it alone, when it starts scraping, you will know it is time for a brake job. But if you are like me and try and get at least one straight pad swap before doing an entire brake job, yeah take tin snips and just cut it off, or use stock ones.

Certainly a small issue, I like what these pads have done already.

Somewhat related. What do you guys recommend for when to change brake fluid and what DOT fluid are you all using. Brakes seem decent but seem a little mushy. Dunno if it's the fluid or comparing to other vehicles I've had? 2017 ram, 32k miles.

It wouldn't be fluid related unless the fluid was very hot, not likely. It could be pads, or it could be caliper piston. How does the fluid look? Light amber looking, it is probably just fine. If one of your caliper pistons are janky and adding dirt to fluid that could be an issue. First, I'd check the pads and color of fluid and level of fluid. If the fluid is low, it likely means the pads are low. I'd try and work with what I had unless you got real dough, brake upgrades are stupid expensive and still are ran by the same anti lock you have, so not a lot you can do.
