Broken in Half?

Saw this on a auto blog today. Makes me cringe. Apparently this couple has had this RV in back of this 3500 for 25k miles until this happened. FCA is denying warranty on the frame.

I just posted this because of a friend sent me the same pic in a text message. MY guess would be because that camper with all of his gear in the back he would be overloaded. The specs on the camper he is carrying says the dry weight of that camper is 4917lbs. Probably more than that if he optioned it out. That would be my guess...

I agree with OC455. I looked up the specs also. 4917 dry weight. These things are not our daddy's cab-overs from years ago.

If that's the load out on that, then he was overloaded. The 3500 DRW Cummins trucks usually have a payload around 5200-5500lbs., on average, some higher, some lower from what I've seen. Mine has a 6292lbs., payload on the sticker (Hemi truck). I wouldn't run anything that heavy.

This is what happens when you listed to sales people and then fail to be diligent by visiting a scale to be 100% sure of the weight...

Wouldn't common sense tell you that something with that much overhang isn't a good idea?

Or when members here tell posters that payload doesn't matter. 6500lb axle rating...he'll be fine

6500 payload, but that is evenly spaced in the bed , not hanging off the tailgate. Looks like most of the weight is behind the axle considering the break point.
