So I was over in another section and posting here because I wanted to know what does it take to build the 5.7 hemi. It is my daily driver so i would want it to be relatively reliable. but I just want the excitement I had when I first bought the truck because after driving it every day it is becoming a bit underwhelming. So what I want to know is how much power the 5.7 Hemi can make with a pretty simple build and mods. And of course how much that would cost.

If you want to stay with your 5.7 there are a few options you can look into. The "experts" at building that platform is Moe's Performance in Conroe Tx. He has build 100's of Ram hemi trucks. He is also a vendor on this site. Most people start with a tuner with a custom tune, a set of long tube headers, and a 6.4 truck intake. This will give you a good foundation to add a cam and ported heads. You also should install a new torque convertor to match the cam. The Ram RCSW needs a custom driveshaft if you plan to go over about 120. Another good investment would be a TruTrac rear end as well as Core 4x4 rear lower control arms. Those upgrades should give you about 400-450 rwhp and put you into the 12's. As I said the real expert is Moe's and they would have a more complete list of parts and a cost figure for you. My guess would be somewhere between 15-20K. If you have any specifics I might be able to visit with you about, let me know

Ok thanks so much and I was looking into buying an ecu off of ebay to get it unlocked by hp tuners and was just wondering if you might know what the hpt or rtd file is.

I'm sorry I don't. I use a Diablo tuner and had it custom tuned by Hemifever. I think that Moe's Has a special deal on the tuner, the tunning and the PCM that is needed.

If you have any other questions I can help you with let me know. Building these Rams to be really competitive is pretty expensive. If you just want something that is "kinda" quick on the street I think you could do it a little cheaper than building the whole thing. You can check with Moe's web site to get prices on the things you are interested in and that will give you a good idea. Just an FYI---If you drive fast that driveshaft is a safety item IMHO--at about 120 that stock driveshaft will just come loose and fly off and damage everything it touches on the way out.
