I'm looking at buying new 2500 Ram diesel for pulling my 30 ft travel trailer. Can anyone give me any pros or cons on the Ram Cummins? I had a 2006 with the 5.9 Cummins and that engine was a hoss. But its been several years now and would lke to know about the new ones.
Thanks

The Cummins in the 2500 will reduce your payload vs. the Hemi. Kind of a con...honestly, if you go with the Cummins go to 3500, more payload and hauling where the Cummins will shine. Wouldn't cost you anymore between a 2500 vs. a 3500.

What does your trailer weigh? Where are you towing? Honestly depends on your application. I wouldn’t own a diesel if I didn’t need it, too much money IMO.

As said before, the 2500 with Cummins will limit your payload (around 2200 lbs), so be careful. I ended up sticking with the Hemi with the 4.1 because of this (plus I don't tow enough to get the Cummins). But the Cummins is a great engine, just may want to look at the 3500.

I just bought a 2500/Cummins to tow our 30 ft TT with a gross weight of 7500 lb. Mine weighed in at 6550 on the CAT scale.
No problem with power, but I've only towed in Florida so far. I think it won't even blink in the Va mountains when we head north next month for the summer. It's a bull for sure.
Plus the new ones are super quiet inside and my Bighorn has the noise cancelling system in the cab. (I miss the diesel sound though)
My payload max is 2244 but that's much more than I need so I'm happy with the setup.
