Anyone running any cab lights on their 1500's? Any pics? Have you had any problems with leaking? I really like the ones from Recon black smoked with white LEDs

I have Stock clear lenses installed by the dealer. I have no idea how to post a pic, it says to enter a URL, and I don't know what that is. Help?

You can also upload from your desktop. There should be an "attachment" thing you click. Then you can browse on your computer for the picture you want to upload

Why do you want these? I have owned a couple 2500's with them and I dont see the point.

More so because it's a national law to have them on the trucks since you could be pulling a trailer that is more than 80" wide.

Just as dualies have the lights on the wheel wells, big trucks also need them to alert other drivers of possible dangers.

If you ever look at the Ford Raptors, they have a single red light under each brake light on the back and those 3 yellow lights in the front. Reason being is the Raptor is so damn wide, it's done by law and not for looks.

The three lights in the center of the grill that give oncoming drivers zero indication of how wide the truck is are there by law because it is so wide?

I'm with you. Got a set for Christmas just waiting for the weather to warm up. I think they look cool. They serve no purpose whatsoever, but then again any mod I'm planning on doing serves no purpose. That's part of the fun

Who knows that info? I'm not trying to be mean or anything but how many people driving a car down the road today will look at those lights or the cab mounted clearance lights and think "I better watch out, this vehicle is over 80" wide!"?

I would think the average person would see the lights and think that theres a wide vehicle coming toward them.

No one needs to know that thanks to those lights. Their 1 and only true purpose is so you can quickly look at a vehicle and know how wide, tall, and long it is without having to think about it. Their use is built off the simple fact that you don't have to think about it and risk colliding with whatever is there, because your eyes tell your brain the locations of the light source(s), which gives you a solid judgement on it's location compared to you. :favorites13:

Plus any trucker driving down the road most likely knows that rule of those lights meaning 80" or wider so they are more prepared.

As I get older I'm all about reversible or minimally invasive mods. Drilling an ass ton of holes, in your roof no less, for pure vanity seems like madness to me.

Makes me think of all those mid nineties ttrucks you see with a rust trail running out of their self-tappper installed visors. Why did rednecks think their trucks needed a hat brim too?

I have installed a few sets and it is pretty nerve racking drilling holes in someone else's perfectly good roof.
