My 2016 Ram was born on December 18th 2015

It did not have the access door cut out, at that time, but it was added later

2016, 2500. Had to cut my door. Not heart surgery, but I found it to be a PITA. I agree with the OP, these trucks cost 2 & 3 times what my parents paid for a 4 bedroom house, and they don't include things that cost literally pennies. A glovebox light for example. My glovebox was wired and had a socket for the bulb. But instead of a bulb, there was a plastic insert. Pop that out and pop in a bulb. Probably would have cost RAM a dime.

Mine when I went to change it the first time had no filter in it. Had the access door though!
Did you just pop one in there and call it good?? I just had the same situation happen. Appears to have the door. But no filter. I Guess I'm just wondering if putting one in there will damage anything?

Mines a 2016 and it has a door and no filter. I Just found out.
Just cut the door opening and add the filter ,K&N makes a reusable / washable filter ,I’ve had one for about 7 years now and it cleans up well.

Weird they would make the door and everything but not add a damn filter, I went and checked mine to make sure they added one granted it’s a 2022

My truck is a trim level below a Big Horn, so not surprised. I found through a few mods I dud that the sales codes were already present at least + wiring!

If U have the door and no filter in there, put one in. Just make sure U got the filter correct ref air flow direction (printed on door cover). If not, U can buy aftermarket and put in or not, OP, wateva works for U. Trying to make sense out of something that FCA may have/have not done, get U in a rubber room, IMHO...
