Ok I'm hoping someone here can help. I noticed the other day I'm leaking fluid out of my cad ( vacuum shift motor ). I did all my checks an it still locks in an out of 4 wheel drive so I know everything is working. I'm guessing that it can only be leaking around the main gasket. Does anyone know if that's the only place it can leak fluid also, what is that gasket called because the only place I can find it is in a rebuild kit for the whole cad which I don't need.

Welcome to RF!

Here's a diagram of your shift motor....and on the outer shaft, I believe...are a couple of O-rings. You'll have to pull the diaphram to replace them, and you should check your fluid level when done. :) That should be about 1/2 to 5/8 inch below the fill plug.

You should be able to get the o-rings at a hardware/tractor supply/auto parts store. Put a bit of vasoline on'em so they'll slide in.

I never thought of replacing the o rings. Do you know by chance if the autoparts store would carry the main gasket that goes around the whole thing. Cause I tried to look it up online at napa an oriellys since there the 2 stores we have here an it came up with nothing. Unless I was just looking it up wrong. An I have a digram of the whole thing in my Haynes Manual

Well...since internet diagnosis can be dicey at times, I have to believe unless any OP tells me up front he or she has a manual or printed material it would be in thiers or others interests that i paste a picture...

Having said that I've taken up the challenge of finding just the gasket, and while your local Dodge dealer may have them, Quad 4x4 also carries them.
That would be here. QU40090 Rectangular CAD Gasket

Do you by chance know if that part is specific to a certain year only? thanks for finding it though, my local parts store didnt have it, I was just going to cut one out of gasket cork. I'll have to check with my local dealer an see if they have one. if not ill order the one from that site

I don't... sorry. A Dodge dealer might.

Normally you would add that at the fill plug on the differential cover. On a front D-44 the level is 1/2 to 5/8 inch below the bottom of the plug threads.
